I have seen in posts where others have said the Vibe has a DIN and a half stereo size, and others say Double DIN. Could someone please verify what it really is. DIN and a half or Double DIN. Thanks.
I'd say it's a 1 1/2 din. I've seen posts that say a double will fit in there but I personally don't think it would w/o cuting out more of the bezel around the radio, and I have never seen pics of anyone with a double installed.I installed a single with a Metra install kit. Here's a link to a new head unit install with some pics. (it also has some pics of the old head unit.) http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=769Later,Carl
Here is a pic I swipped from matrixvibe.net. It is a double DIN (or rather 2 DINs together). The Metra dash kit has double DIN pieces and instructions with it also!! I do think they had to trim the upper corners a bit due to their rounded nature!
If you want a radio that matches the Metalic finish of the dash trim and matches the amber color on the gauges you want to check out the Sony CDX810. I have one in my Vibe. It is awesome. The display has 7 different color settings and one of them is soooooo close to the Amber in the gauges it looks as if GM helped them with the color mathing. The radio is $199. It has 3 preamp outputs, and is XM ready. Not a bad deal. also try the kenwood kdc-x769 or the kenwood kdc-722. they also match well, a little bit more spending, but it has a fold down face, its cool. ill post some pics of my 769 here in a few days.
