Adding a Line Level Converter to Factory HU

Post by Dj_kulture »

2005 vibe, factory HU, non moons&tunes...after 3 years... I decided to put the old amp in the vibe after coming across 2 10" speakers in a box on the side of the road.ANYways... I don't have an aftermarket HU like I've had in every other car install i've done.I've installed the amp.. and I have a Scoche line level converter.I'd just like to know any tips from people who have done this.. and especially which color wires to tap... and how to go about that.it seems hard to get to the factory harness since you can't take it out and you don't have much slack. Also the Line out converter is quite bulky, but it looks like theres a lot of room back in the dash for it.I'm just using one set of RCA so I think i just need Rear Right and Left speaker wires tapped.Should i use those crimp taps?(some fool had already tapped a bunch of wires back there for the worst XM install i've ever seen!, i ripped that crap out, they tapped the 12+ to a hidden socket under the dash, plugged into the XM car adapter! I didn't even know about it until today!, it made it so that if i unplugged the XM reciever -which i didnt use- the radio would stay on with the car off,.. now that all that mess is out, that problem is gone, and i can hear AM radio now! before I couldnt... and the kicker of it all, I never could figure out how to hear the XM in the Headunit! there was nothing connected to the audio out of the xM into the FM direct inject.. oh well) Back to the task at hand... what color wires on the harness do i need to tap for the line out converter!? Thanks!JasonAtlanta2005, base, neptune2 kicker solobaric 10" in a boxMTX 2160 (under rear passenger seat) Tint12+ socket in console

You don't have to go to the fuse box, but I don't remember the color to tap into, and I don't have my Vibe at work with me to check.
