ordered the Cosmo CAI, any install problems or pitfalls I need to be aware of ?

Post by vibebob »

I ordered my Cosmo CAI (be here on the 30th) and would like to know if there are any installation problems or pitfalls I should be aware of ? how are the install instructions ?from what I saw in the picture, it looks like a straight foward remove the old and install the new.

The one thing alot of people are gonna say is that it is gonna be a tight fit. But with time and patience, it will go in.

If you cut an inch or 2 off the filter end of the intake tube, the fit is not as tight behind the fog light.

Do as Raven said, cut a couple inches off the bottom where the filter goes, and that will also make it easier to pull off through the wheel well when you oil and clean it twice a year unless you don't plan on cleaning it lol.I made a small dent in my tube as well to help it fit behind the head light because it was putting a lot of pressure on the back of it and I didn't wan't anything to happen to the headlight or the CAI.

it all depends on what year your vibe is... some 05-08 with DBW have cels because it leans out too much on the top end with the cai.. a sai would have been a better choice.Other than that most have covered the issues. tite under the headlight and too long to fit nicely above the fog light

I cut a couple inches off the throttle body side, but mine still fits tight. It actually pushes on the passenger headlight a bit. I actually plan on going back to the short ram.

You must have a strange CAI if it goes behind the passenger side headlight.

So you are saying that I should get the SRI instead of CAI for my 06 base auto? I want the performance and MPG gains, but not if I'm going to get CEL.
