I'll start on the happy side of things. Loki my 4 month old puppy, who got parvo a couple weeks ago, is doing well. She has returned to her old self, very energetic and happy. On the down side, my in-laws have 3 dogs. A brittany spaniel, 15 years old, 2 miniature dachshunds, 6 & 7 years old. The brittany spaniel caught parvo. My wife and I feel terrible about it. The old dog is going in sometime today to be put down. It's really sad. None of us have been expecting her to live through another winter, but this is still sooner than we expected. The 2 dachshunds are ok, for now, and we are watching them very closely. One of the mechanics at my f-i-l's tranny shop just got a 5 month old puppy for his birthday last week. No shots yet. We suggested he take some precautions to make sure his new puppy doesn't get sick too and get his dog in asap to get shots. Now for the really scary stuff. My wife had an appointment with the OB/GYN last week. We got a call last night from the doctor who said my wife tested positive for HPV and they found some abnormal cells and want to do a biopsy. The biopsy is scheduled for Monday. My father-in-law was admitted to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City yesterday. His doctor called him Monday afternoon and told him that he had an appointment with them Tuesday morning. They drove to Salt Lake Monday night and was admitted yesterday. This was initiated because a CAT scan or MRI, whichever one, showed a tumor in his abdomen. He is going into surgery on Thursday to have it removed. They aren't 100% sure what it is yet. This weekend I get to go see my family! Haven't seen my parents for almost 6 months. I just wish it was under better circumstances.

glad to hear your puppy is doing better.Sorry to hear about your wife, father inlaw and your inlaws dog Your family will be in my thoughts, I hope they all get good news.
HPV is a ridiculous thing. It can stay dormant in guys and you would never know because there are like 300 different strands of it. Sometimes women just get it from other circumstances as well, it's a very odd thing to have. Funny thing is I never passed it back to her once she was done with her treatments, guess my immune system is pretty good. Also have her talk to her Dr. about getting the 3 shot vaccine once she is cleared. My fiance did that out of precaution, can't hurt. For those that do not know some general facts:-approximately 80% of women have or have had HPV, most do not even know it as it shows no signs or symptoms.-Men predominantly carry it but have no clue because it has no effects on men.-HPV stands for Human Paploma Virus

My wife could have been carrying it for years. 4 years ago she was diagnosed with ovarian & cervical cancer. This would be her 2nd round with it. She started the shots for HPV when she was in to see the Dr. last week.

Update:We spent the weekend up in Salt Lake City in the hospital. We were able to sleep at my parents house and spend the days in the hospital with my father-in-law. The surgery went well. They removed a tumor the size of a volleyball out of his abdomen and were able to get all of it. They also had to remove his bladder. He will have to do a little radiation therapy. He is being released from the hospital tomorrow morning!
