Solved the buzzing noise...

Post by Al 03VibeGT »

Like many of you, I've had the dreaded buzzing noise coming from my dashboard. It gets most extreme at 3000 - 4000 rpm. Anyway, after extensive searching, I believe I've got it licked. It seems to be coming from the glove box. When I removed it, I noticed the backside of the box is thin plastic, a prime area for vibrational noises. I decided to use a sound dampening material (Dynamat Extreme or FatMat Extreme) to isolate the noise.Voila! A nice sheet stuck to the backside of the box and the noise is gone. Did not see any other potential source, but checked all of the wiring harnesses to verify none would shake loose in the near future. So far, the noise is gone... Perhaps this was and is the dreaded source. In my case, it seems to be so.

I have the same thing! Did the buzzing sound you had sound like it was in the middle of the dash, even though you narrowed it down to the glove-box?I've had mine for 3 days now!!!

Well, I've been driving around without my radio for several weeks. It was during this time that I was better able to pinpoint where the sound was really coming from. Seems to have been the source in my car...
