My wife gave one of our kids milk in the back seat which they promptly spilled. This was 9 months ago. We had the seat steam cleaned. Then winter came and smell was froze. It has now warmed up and the car stinks again. We had it detailed. Still stinks. Now looking at replacing the seat. The dealer gave a quote of around a grand to get new upolstery for the right rear seat and new cushion including install. Is there a way to get this cleaned cheaper or find a used seat?Online junk yards?
That's an old stain. Seems like you need to soak it out. They do sell deep penetrating upholstery cleaner that has to settle into the fabric and cushioning. Using the top foaming cleanser is not enough, let me look around today and see what I can come up with.
Basically you need to use an oxygen agent. I would even suggest taking some Oxy Clean with water or color safe detergent, mixing it and pouring it onto the area letting it set for 5 minutes or so, then with some citrus cleaner spray the top, let it set, and with a dry or slightly damp towel blot repeatedly.
To go with the above, I would take the seat out and pressure wash it first, getthe water WAY down into the seat... Wash it up, rinse well and then leave in the sun for a few days to dry...
Doesnt the fabric covering the cushion pull off? I know for the front seats you can take the chair out, and there are long nylon clips that pop and you can essentially unfurl the covering.
I have had the back seat apart 3 times to wash the seat covers and never paid attention to how the fabric attaches. I think it's clipped in, but I'm not sure.
