Acceleration "burst" at 105 kmh

Post by valjea00 »

Hello everyone, I own a 2005 Vibe with 5sp. Not a GT. When I'm driving on the highway, i feel an acceleration burst (nothing to break you neck..) Feels the sames as a lockup clutch engagement on an automatic transmission. Obviously I don't have a lockup on a MT. Any ideas? Nothing wrong with this I just wonder if this threshold inidicates something (like optimal driving speed...) I'm an engineer so I do tend to overanalyze.

That's the secret speed band where the uber-hidden twin turbo kicks in. GM designers put it in there as an 'easter-egg' of sorts. On a more serious note, I'd assume it just happens to be where you are on your rpm range.

Check your RPM. 3000ish. That's where the torque curve steepens. AKA "The sweet spot". You'll feel it in all gears at around the same RPM.
