May 14th, engine swap!

Post by Lancer »

Wife just told me she talked to the guy that said he could do the engine swap and 'minor upgrades. I've been waiting for a long time for this! I can't wait!Gives me a chance to save just a little more money for maybe some show stuff and/or paint.

Did I miss something, is this a required swap or just for fun? What kind of upgrades would you be looking at, and how much is all this going to cost?

From what I know, his Unichip map made his car run really rich which cleaned the oil off the cylinder walls and he has some bad seals now. I thought he was just going to get a used engine and do a few mods to it. the MWR route is damn expensive.

Sadly, this is required. I got 2 cylinders that are down 30% in compression. And 2 weekends ago I drove it to my bro's house,100 miles total, and it burned almost a quart of oil. I've been limping it around mostly just to work and short errands for the past 6 months. I'd love to tell everyone that I'm getting a monster engine and all, but I'm just getting a newer one swapped in. Still keeping the s/c! I am gonna throw in some crower cams & valve springs. After the swap the car is going to a tuner in Wausau (1hr away and ONLY shop in WI that can tune the Unichip) for a dyno tune. Gonna try to get this car finished for Dropfest the first weekend in June.Da wife didn't get a price on the engine swap when she talked to the guy. I'll ask about that later this week. He's got a small, but very clean, shop specializing in foregn cars and engines. He also said he can take care of finding some engines for me to choose from. And he came recomended from a few people the wife and I talked to.Faultline had a awesome site to find engines from, but I lost it when I reformated my harddrive. Still waiting to see if he get's my IM about it. I'm excited!
