'05 GT CAI information wanted

Post by MaxxVibe »

i might be looking at putting a CAI on my 05 GT and was wondering what the modifications are needed to install one. im looking for the short ram. is there any need for recalibration of the intake system in anyway.also what mods specifically are needed for the installation of the 03-04 short rams (specifically the AFE or other models with air boxes attached) into later model vibes?thanks guys

Most intakes come with instructions. With a short ram you should be fine, you'll have to take out the stock air box, nothing too difficult.

you'll probably have to buy the heat shield separately from AFE. someone here was selling a short ram with a heat shield, but not a typhoon. the sale is pending, but you still have a chance until the OP says it's been sold: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=32706btw, the cheapest price i could find for a typhoon was at auto zone. i ordered it on a sunday night, and had it on tuesday at noon. install was easy. i took a bunch of pics of each step during the install on my 05 GT, if i can find em and you need em, let me know and i'll email em to you. the pics in the K&N instructions were TERRIBLE.

Well, i bought a Cosmo Racing SR intake instead of putting a whole lot more money into a typhoon for the same result. I am now wondering based on opinions of people who have the cosmo system whether it be a CAI or SRI.........is the filter a high quality filter just as quality as a K&N or AFE? Im asking because if so, i intend to get a recharger kit and use it, if not and more than personal opinion substantiates that a K&N is by far a better filter, then i will go that route. Chime in on this so i can get a feel for what filter i should have better quality air from. thanks guys.

all the oil filters from "big" auto companies are almost the same. The issue I do see is if they are over oiled it can throw a cel and/or get the MAF dirty faster. With a sri you could just get a foam filter, i think aem makes it? other members have it, just need to get the right diameter. I just bought a sri for my ms3 and once the stock oil filter gets nasty ill get a foam filter for it most likely.
