Amp, Wiring, or Speaker - No sound from Tweeter on Drivers Side

Post by Forrest88 »

No sound from left side tweeter on my 2004 VIBE with Moon & Tunes set up. All speakers working EXCEPT the drivers side TWEETER. Just put in a new Pioneer P4000UB head unit so the lack of a tweeter is really emphasized. I tested the amp with an OHM meter and all seems normal in terms of output from the amp, other than the right and left front full range speakers have a weak reading, yet seem to work just fine. ONLY the left tweeter isn't working although both tweeter outputs have the same high level reading. Anyone have a way to test this or a solution found?THANKS

Put the stock radio back in and see what happens... if nothing changes, something might have blown.. simple test..

Thanks for the respons Sublimewind. I actually realize I was not getting the left front tweeter with the stock radio either. Since the OHM test from the factory amp under the seat was OK for both front speakers and tweeters it may be in the wiring or the speaker. I'll check it and see. The only other strange this is the OHM test for the rear speakers is very low from the factory amp.BTW - Since you seem to really know car audio, is the OHM meter test the one to use for checking on getting a signal to through the speaker?APPRECIATE YOUR HELP HERE!

OK, I'vew checked the OHM reading at the tweeter itself and it is getting a signal, yet not producing any sound. So, it appears the tweeter is the problem, yet as I say there is no sound at all. If it is a "blown" tweeter then at least I would expect some distorted sound or if the capacitor was bad the sound would be affected, too. Anyway, is there a way to specifically check the speaker itself (i.e, pop it open and check wiring or look for burned areas or somehting? Otherwise, I am looking for a VIBE tweeter for sale by someone who replaced them with upgrades.THANKS
