Odd sound from dash area

Post by hambox »

I've done a search, and think it could be the recirculate motor issue that other owner have had, however the sound is different for me:When the vent is on, does not matter if a/c or recirculate is on or off, I hear a clicking sound that is very similar to a cd or dvd player making a ticking sound trying to read an unreadable disc. It is loud enough to be very annoying and distracting, especially when listening for it! The only other thing it does, is when the A/C is turned on it makes this exasperated, escaping air sound. Blows perfectly cold air, so maybe that's just the sound these cars make?Oh, and first post! Too many times first posts are about negative things, but I'm going to be around here for the long haul; many many plans for this car!

I have had a similiar problem that popped up this week. When I turn the key to on, I hear a clicking sound that also is heard when the engine is on. No sound at all when acc. is turned to or when it is totally turned off. The sound is similiar to a clicking of a CD but it goes up and down in volume but has a consistant beat to it and never stops until I turn off the car.Any ideas before I take it to repair shop?

An update on my odd dashboard sound problem. When I turned on the internal air recirculation button --the sound went away. So the only time it makes this clicking sound would be when the button is disengaged.Hope this helps somebody!

Mine doesn't go away with the recirc, but if I turn the fan speed up to 4 and let it run for a bit and turn it back down - the sound subsides for several seconds until it comes back. A/C is starting to make a gasping air sizzle sound, so I'm beginning to think the Vibe and I are going to have a tussle!

yeah this happened to me, and i took it in to the dealer. it's an actuator that's bad. i had mine replaced under warranty. they ordered the part, and it took them less than a day to replace after the part came in
