I don't know if it had already been mentioned here, anyway here it is:http://www.thetruthaboutcars.c...eview/I have a hard time to understand what could be so bad with the 2009 vs the old model...The Vibe isn't mentioned in the review and given how bad it is, it's a good thing...
That was a pretty brutal review! I don't particularly like the new Matrix, but sheesh - even I would be nicer than that! That dude just needs to go hump his Prius already. I've always hated the reviews on that site, so I'd take it with a grain of salt anyway.

I treat car reviews like music reviews and movie reviews. I make up my own mind, and I like what I like.

I've seen that review last month and it seemed to be mostly biased bashing without any real argument. I checked for more reviews from the same author and they are all mostly the same.

I have always read reviews before test driving a car and felt that the reviews are only guidelines and nothing more. There may be problems that really show through during a review, but the part of the review I really tend to ignore is the driving dynamics. How can someone tell you that you won't like the way a car drives? It comes down to personal preference.

I took a huge sharp turn in the new vibe going 80kms and it didn't scrape anything. It actually handled better than the 03-08's.Most of these review guys wouldn't know how to change a tire if their life depended on it.The journalist guy I rode with in the contest told me he did a review on the 04 matrix, and he said the Vibe was a better car in all aspects. But then I told him it's the same vehicle and he didn't know what to say .

"Folks, this is pretty simple. You can get the same car for less money with the Scion xB."Does the reviewer know that Xb does have the same 2.4L, but with ONLY a 4 spd auto? Not 5 spd. And Xb only have steel wheels. Not to mention less cargo room. Dollar for dollar, the Matrix/Vibe is a better deal.

I take car reviews with a grain of salt. Many things are very subjective - like the layout of the controls, driving position etc. The main thing is to be aware of real facts (such as cargo dimensions and possibly known mechanical issues with the car). Apart from that people should buy what they like and not bother about what reviewers say.

One would get better performance and MPG with a 5spd. We don't need the numbers, I'm sure the Matrix/Vibe (2.4&5spd auto) would be more fun to drive than the XB.

The faults I can find with this one:1) Comparing it to the Xb, and Prius. The comparison should be with larger hatches like the Subie 2.5 wagon, Mazda 3, Hyundai (whatever the hatch is.) The Xb is a young pre college or college kids car. The Prius is MUCH more expensive and a hybrid. I wonder if he compares the Fusion with the new F150.2) He mentioned the interior of the Toyota was subpar and could be better and to go for the Vibe??? If your basing it off interiors, they are identical except for the Radio and Pontiac emblem.3) I will agree I'm not a big fan of the new exterior styling, especially with that teeny tiny window in the back. I enjoy my wrap around glass better, it has symmetry. I also like the stance of my car and the creased fender flares instead of the flowy dress type.4) The engines are improved and keep the same mpg or close to it which is nice. Taking the 1.8L from 130hp to a little more and giving it a little torque with the 2.4L is sure to help models like the AWD. So why not compare the engines to the old offerings. IE test out an old XRS vs. a new XRS to see what times and specs you get.5) Also claiming it cannot hold a candle to the 3 is ridiculous. I looked at a 3, never drove it cause the dealer was being very snotty and I waited for 45 minutes before leaving cause nobody would even look at me. Even after standing in the showroom for 15 minutes with my fiance just looking at people in the eyes. Moving on, the 3 is smaller, has less cargo space, does offer more hp, but does not have AWD. Based on my criteria for needing space and having AWD it was not in the running anymore.
