radio lights problem

Post by hmd666 »

Hello there,Need your precious help I have a problem with lights on my radio (original one on a 2003 base Vibe). In the screen, there are 3 lights behind to light it up. The one ine the middle turned off a few weeks ago, so i think it burnt, but yesterday it suddenly turned on when i look for the time (i was waiting for my wife on a market parking and my car was off) when i saw it, i turned the car on, but the light was off again. And the light on the right turned off too for a few minutes before turning on again........What happen with this radio screen ??? Does anyone here had the same problem ? Is there a way to fix it, and how can i do it (no i don't feel like buying a new radio... lol) ?The lights behind the buttons (Traf and Tone) seems to be off too...Thanks for your helpBest regardsOlivier

I'm no expert but have you had your battery tested?

I've seen a copuple of these radios where the LCD backlight bulbs are intermittent. Tap on the display and the light may come on or go off. The ones I have looked at do not have any intermittent connection problems, it's inside the glass bulb itself. Must be something about the design of the bulbs. Not much to do about it other than replace the radio (best option if still under warranty), find a cheap used one on ebay, get the bulbs replaced, or most expensive is to move to an aftermarket headunit.
