So, I thought it was an unfunny April Fools joke, but it was the real deal!2008 Subaru STI Hatch (yes, I wanted the hatch as soon as I found out it would be one), Aspen White on Gold BBS rims. Picked up today with 9 miles on the odometer. Now has 52 after some errands this evening.First impressions in driving and riding: Definitely a softer and smoother ride than our 07 STI, but not quite as smooth as the LGT. Power delivery is nice, however in "i" mode, it's painfully LAME! So, I promptly changed it to "S#" and the car performs how it should, more like an STI and not so boring.... I don't know if I would say it's faster or more powerful than our 07 STI, but then again, I didn't really get on it since the silly thing would beep at me at 3500 RPMS (in which hubby said it should remain so I don't go racing around town during the break in process). I haven't really "driven" it so once I feel more confident in it's break in, I'll drive it on a back mountain road (and also when the snow finishes melting). Now for the pics!Arrived on the truck this morning:Off the truck and waiting for PDI:Sitting at the dealer waiting to finish the paperwork:Officially MINE!and at home in the garage:
congrats on your beautiful new baby your garage looks so nice with the subies sittin side by side btw i love the new hood scoop, think it'll work on my vgt??

it has an RPM feature, same as my 07 going back as far as 04 that allows you to set a light and a beeper at certain rpm. Basicly a shift indicator if you want to shift before a certain rpm. It beeps and flashes if when you reach it/go past it. I have mine turned off but during the break in process had it set to 4000 rpm with just the light set to flash. the beeper is annoying.

well, the car is like a cross between my LGT and Mav's STI. It reminds me of my old Vibe GT. The LGT will be going back to stock soon, need to start pulling out the engine parts and bits, get the OEM parts back on, etc. Then once it's back to stock, checked over and I know everything is working fine, will go up for sale in July. Until then, I need to keep using it. I already promised my parents use of the car while they are here in June. Plus, while I'm working on getting things done with it and the new one, it'll be good to have the 3rd car if necessary.

i love the new look to the STI. it's much more grown up imo. plus, it's more Legacy than Impreza/WRX, so more creature comforts for the masses. not near as harsh a ride imo (phil may say otherwise). I love the hatch! i missed driving one!

To me it has the power of the STi at the touch of the accel... but it does not feel like your driving an STi. Its hard to explain and its not implying its a bad thing. I've driven quite a few 04-07 model STi including my 07 STi and the 08 rides nothing like them. they are harsh/rough feeling on the road but I like that. STi power without that 04-07 STi feel.

Sharp looking ride there hope!Get us some interior pictures!I briefly browsed subaru at the auto show last week, didn't get a chance to check out any of them up close though...Subaru's new stuff is looking so much better now that they ditched that horrid snout they had on the original tribeca (which they later tried to adopt to the rest of the line and also failed miserably).
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
I'm late to the party... Congratz...!!!!!! I know the new rear suspension will be doing you wonder on the track to.... I'm guessing it won't be long before it gets coilovers and other fun bits.... Enjoy, i'm sure you will... PS- wanna sell me the drivetrain outta the Leggy?
Quote, originally posted by Mavrik »STi power without that 04-07 STi feel.and that's exactly why i like it. it feels more like a car and not so spine jarring.and sublime, no real mods at all but will be going to stg 1 with custom PDX tune (he'll be here May 10-11) for both cars. I need to run it stock (i keep telling myself this) for this season. then after Sept, it will be STG 2 baby! the stg 2 08's are running up to 330 whp/400 wtq! INSANE!!!!! :Dand we'll try and get some pics over the weekend after i have time to pretty up the car and get the tint and clear bra installed.
I don't want to sound like a (removed) but I'm going to be honest, I really thought I liked these from the pics I had seen, but I'm def not feeling this one. The gold rims are the first thing I think need to go, they just don't look right, and something about the styling, I'll stick to the older models, whatever the second gen back is. I know the last gen had more power, but I really don't like the "snout" on those either. Congrats either way and I hope you're happy with it! Certainly nothing I could afford!

Personally I liked the 18" silver alloy 5 spoke rims but she wanted the BBS rims. Gold BBS is the only option on white and honestly silver looks dull on white which is why silver ASA rims are my winters.

Add a full turbo back exhaust and tune, and Jeff Sponaugle from PDX Tuning (who tunes my cars) got 330 awhp/400 awtq. hmm... not too shabby for a little hatch.
only had it for a day, and she's already doing stuff to it. you just can't keep ANYTHING stock for very long, can you?? what parts of the lights did you red out??

I had my vibe torn apart on the 2nd day painting the interior pieces red. so, this is no surprise. I also debadged the LGT the first or second day of ownership as well... something like that. tint goes on tomorrow and clearbra on friday.I just used red translucent vinyl for the overlays. I sell it at my store.
debadged! All sorts of dials and such... so much to learn!Seats are comfy, but some people think they are too soft for a "rally car." I don't see why a rally car must have uncomfortable seats.... So I like thesewalk around

I wish I had her headlight housings... I hate chrome and the 07 is chrome... hers are black. however the chrome does make my headlights seem brighter then hers.

I gotta say - the STi (new one) is definitely growing on me. In person they are a thing of beauty. In photos, not quite as nice, but the white looks real good. That scoop is sweet succulence.

Quote, originally posted by AKLGT »THanks, Jim! How's the Lexus? It is kinda unhappy at the moment. I hit 90K miles at the end of the year, had the timing belt replaced as recommended. One month later the MAF took a dump and when it did it blew the ECM. Replaced them both with used, running good again. Last night it started making funny noises, could be something like the exhaust rattling, or who knows what. Sounds terrible. Also weird, it is eating rear tires. They were new (1K miles) when I got the car, at 6K the rears were bald (but evenly worn). Got the tires replaced free under warranty, had another alignment done, and now 3K miles later they have less tread than the fronts with 9K miles (again the wear is perfectly even).Kinda weird, everyone I've known with an LS has gone at least 150K with no significant problems.I'll see what the latest problem is. Might give up and look for a Boxster coming off a lease (or at least that's what I'm threatening my wife with!) In the end probably won't want to spend that kinda dough, might go for a CR-V. Enjoy the new ride, take it easy on the mods! (yeah, right!)
