2004 Fusion - Blueridge9

Post by Blueridge9 »

Hi Everyone,I enjoy reading and learning about Vibe from all of you in the "Vibedom" – thank you for the info and pics! I bought a used 2004 base, 1.8, automatic, Vibe in Fusion/Orange with 40,000 miles in Feb. of 2006 (Two years ago) and it’s the best car of the other vehicles (Honda, Nissan, Ford) I’ve owned! I did a lot of reading and test drives (Subaru, Honda, Scion, Toyota) before the purchase from a Kia dealer who did not have the Owner’s Manual. For 2 years I just faithfully changed the oil and filter and it passed annual inspections and it has been fun and reliable.Since I’ve started reading this Vibe site in late January I have been inspired to:1.Discover I had a FILTHY cabin air filter and replaced it with one from NAPA by following your tutorial (see photo).2.Downloaded a 2004 Owner’s manual and learned lots of stuff.3.Had my wimpy battery tested and after it flunked the test – it was replaced. So glad I was not stranded somewhere.4.Since the Vibe now has 62.000 miles and the owner’s manual had a long list of maintenance to do at 60K - oops slacker driver. I went to a trusted mechanic and had it checked against the list and he found the water pump needed to be replaced, thermostat, belt, heater hoses and radiator hoses and a new radiator cap. Then a special shop flushed the automatic transaxle fluid, and cooling system and that made a HUGE IMPROVEMENT. I’m sure I’ve made a good investment and prevented problems since I hope to drive this to 200K!! This Vibe hauls stuff easily, has very comfortable seat height and position for long drives. Now my Vibe purrs.5.Stereo: My CD player has never worked so I’ve been limited for 2 years to radio (I have the patience)! Since I invested $$ on #4 above I had to be thrifty so I followed someone’s advice (I forget who to thank) and found a salvaged Vibe stereo at LKQ on Ebay from a 2005 Vibe on clearance for $27.00 + $15 shipping !! We installed it this weekend. When the budget allows I’m getting JVC from Crutchfield.6.I like seeing the pictures of all the mods you are doing. I’ve learned that my car was built at NUMMI in Fremont, CA. I’ve also enjoyed reading about the 2009 Vibes.Future: I want to convert it to a hybrid or otherwise increase mileage, check the screw inside the passenger window, make a cargo mat, fix a serious body scratch on the side, get new floor mats, find new seat covers, pull valve cover and have valve clearance adjusted to factory spec., install JVC stereo from Crutchfield and keep learning along with all of you.Everyone comments positively on my car and at work I’ve noticed several other people have bought Vibes so they are catching on around here and I would buy it again.MORE PICTURES: http://s278.photobucket.com/al...album

Welcome! Fusion was my first color choice, but it had been discontinued by the time I got my Vibe. Glad you're having fun with it!

Moongdss,Your Pandora is a beauty. I like the two tone look with the trim.I'm glad you like the Fusion color too. Maybe they will bring it back in the future when we are ready for another Vibe (fingers crossed). The best part is that I can easily spot my orange Vibe in a big parking lot. Yes, Fusion was a hard color to find. I finally found it online at a North Carolina Kia dealership. Speaking of great colors...I had a Honda Civic at one point that got hit and so I had it repainted light aqua blue and it was a killer color too. It was kind of like the inverted Vibe pic in my photobucket album.

IKON 17" gunmetal. my car website got out of date towards the end if the Vibe's life with me. I never did post up pics of the magnaflow exhaust or the rear sway bar install.fusion is my fav colour on the Vibe. When ever my project subaru comes to pass it will be painted that colour.

Hi Csnow,I see you are from Va Beach - what a great city you have!! I've been there a few times when friends rented a beach house near Fort Story and another time we got cabins at Seashore State Park and rode bikes on the trails and on the Boardwalk in the hotel zone. I really was in awe of the massive King Neptune statue and the aquarium. I'm just a few hours from the Beach.

Great looking Vibe. Only color I have seen that I would wave a wand over and change my Frosty to Fusion.

NSimkons,I wonder why there is not a TEAM FUSION/SUNBURST sticky in GenVibe Garage? I just started one and hope you will add a sticky so it sits with the other colors.
