'09 Vibe review...by me

Post by lovemyraffe »

This is a very condensed version. Yesterday the wife and I went to check out the new '09 Vibe. Beautiful Hot Red GT model, 2.4 L, 5 spd auto, sunroof. It was beautiful. I love the new body, it is damn sexy. I love that they didn't do a major overhaul of the interior. I was disappointed in the motor. I expected more out of it. I was disappointed in the comfort of the seats. It was a miserable drive. I love how it looks, I love how it handles, but I just can't seem to part with Death just yet.Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures.

I think you have a smudge on your lens that needs cleaning

Anyone look at the porjected fuel economy of the 09' GT on the window sticker? The 2.4L is rated to get a better average MPG than the 1.8L in the base 08' generation. (Auto vs. Auto)

I had no idea that the Vibe's MPG had gone down so much.I get 27/33 on my '06 Base. I'm not sure I want to sacrifice that to get an '09 unless they ride/handle much better.

I priced one out on gm.ca and I've got to say I'm dissapointed with the lack of options on the AWD models. No option for alloys or 17" wheels? What's up with that?

i know i should reserve my thoughts until i've actually ridden in a new vibe.i saw an o9 matrix the other day on the street. really like the body. but i have to say, the more i see it, the more i dislike the new dash. i think its because its surrounded by that satin-like brushed silver stuff that's on our center dash as opposed to the shiny chrome-like stuff from o3-o8. so to me it makes the circles and ugly oval really thck. and i noticed on the o9, one thing that makes the rear windshield look even smaller is the fact that the license plate hast been relocated to the rear bumper, so the liftgate looks giant, and the window tiny. my 2 cents.like i said. i really should drive one

It seemed so slow. I loved how quiet it was on the freeway at 100 mph, or even at 80. But with a 5 spd auto it is expected.

I was at the dealer today to get the estimate on my wife's G5 and I got to see an AWD they had on the showroom floor. It really is a nice looking car when you see it in person. The interior is a bit different, but I don't think it looks any better my 06, just different. I might have considered it but the hatch glass does not open on the 09's. That is a deal breaker for me. I use it all the time for groceries, long items and fresh air for the dogs when we travel. Overall it's nice, but not for me.
