My vibe go hit today while i was away. A toyota tundra hit my guamish and throw it while it was in park with break set 70 ft over a curb and into a lawn. the back bumper is crushed down to almost the ground the back pan is bent. Opened the back window and the inside flooring was all bent up on the side it was hit. so the girl hit the back left mostly... yeah im not happy EDIT: here are the picks http://www.flickr.com/photos/24098798@N02/
damn, that sucks. at least you know who did it... hopefully you can get it taken care ofbtw, what's a guamish??

Sorry for your loss - I just lost mine too, so I know it really sucks. If it's a total loss, don't take the insurance company's 1st offer! Here's a portion of what I wrote in my negotiation letter with the insurance adjuster:"After our discussion, I believe that your company's assessment of my vehicle’s value differs from the realities of the marketplace. Your estimate of what a comparable car will cost is well below the available inventory of comparable vehicles within a 100 mile radius of my residence.Based on the average retail cost of the attached classifieds and internet auctions, a comparable vehicle is worth $________ plus sales tax ($_______), for a total of $_________.The enclosed attachments demonstrate the above figures and illustrates that your proposed settlement is unfair and not enough money to buy a similar car. If you disagree, please provide a list of dealers within a 100 mile radius of my residence that can sell me a comparable vehicle for the amount of the settlement that you are offering me. I have attached the original window sticker so that you have an accurate listing of all the options that are on the vehicle."Good Luck!
Oh i got custom plates for my car. My parents are from guam.. and its a reference from the critic. Actual way of saying someone is from guam is Guamanian or chamorro. Oh and as for who hit it some teen girl was driving and the fire Dept had to extract her. the tundra had some damage but not enough to hurt someone majorly but im not a medic so i wouldn't know. Her parents told the FD that they want to waive the ambulance. tomorrow the officer that took the report is giving me a call. My car was parked near a T section and she would have to stop then turn. with the force she hit it she had to have taken that corner at speed and either lossed it or was on something and powered into the vibe.

o ok i was thinkin it might be your vibe's name, but i wasn't 100% sure. my name on here is my custom plate, and it's my vibe's name, "american rice" my guess about the girl from what i've experienced from teen drivers was she was probably on the phone runnin her mouth without a care in the world or puttin on her stupid makeup, noticed the stop WAY too late, and turned your beautiful guamish into a beat up guamish. i've avoided several accidents from young (and older) people on phones since i've been driving. and i'm not even gonna mention some of the crazy things i've seen happen around me by JUST cell phone drivers, that's a different topic. good luck with the insurance battle, and hopefully your vibe isn't totaled

Linda and Flak Happy,In most cases it's not good thing to take a quick cash settlement for a totaled car. They'll try to pay you Actual Cash Value (pretty much 'wholesale' or 'auction' price) as stated in the collision coverage policy, and they want to settle quickly. Then you're stuck trying to find a comparable vehicle for the money they gave you. Basic Truth of Insurance Companies #1: Insurance companies routinely purchase comparable replacement vehicles well below 'retail' prices. Yes, they get a deal! They don't have to pay retail. It's all perfectly legal. The concept of insurance is that in exchange for your timely premium payments, the company assumes the large financial risk that your car might be damaged or totaled in an accident. The terms of your insurance policy are that the company will restore you to the "position" (in terms of like kind and quality of property) you were in before the accident. Of course, your deductible will apply if you were 'at fault'. This means that the insurance company is obligated to repair your vehicle to the condition it was in before the accident, or supply you with a vehicle "comparable to" yours, if totaled. Many times the company cannot find a car EXACTLY like yours, so you may get a car with fewer miles, more options, or in better condition. The company rep (usually claims adjuster or claims manager) does the legwork, and they find you the closest match, still relatively quickly. That's also why you should take THEIR offer to rent a car for you: The insurance company pays far less to rent a car than you will, based a volume discount they get because of their hundreds or thousands of rentals each year.Basic Truth of Insurance Companies #2: Time is money to insurance companies. It costs them to pay for a rental car for you. It costs them administrative and personnel costs to keep claims open and unsettled for a long time. They'd rather pay a large claim quickly and move on, instead of arguing over a few hundred dollars. The longer you hold out and the claim remains 'open', the more it costs them.

Best of luck with a favorable resolution with your the insurance company.
In this case if the other person has liability coverage the car would be covered under property damage liability, not collision. Most insurance companies use a vendor to survey the area for cars that have sold from dealers in the area that are close to the type and condition of the totaled vehicle. Many times once the company has made an offer on a total loss they will not continue to provide rental even if you refuse the offer. Each state has different laws so it can very from state to state.Like all people some ajusters can be jerks. I would be polite but also do your homework and know the value of your vehicle. If the ajuster can justify what he/she pays for the vehicle then it should be no sweat off their back to pay it.
if that happened to me id probably kill whoever hit me.......i got hit a month after i bought the car in nov of 05.....he said he had a long day of classes and work an fell asleep.....i still havent gotten it fixed and i probably wont because its just some scratches in the back left fender
Quote, originally posted by Flak happy »so you make the call totaled or not... Will depend on the age/mileage and worth of your car in comparison to the total repair bill.....correct if I'm wrong (anyone) if the repair cost is 50% of the worth of the car....the insurance company will total it.
It is Totaled The guy from the body shop called me and said since she hit me in the corner she hit all the right parts that made it very expensive. my cars worth was 12+k and the Damage was over 13K. so if you get hit pray its not on a corner.
