Well, those who have paid attention over the past few months will know that when I got engaged, I gave up my dog because my future wife was allergic to her (that should have been my FIRST sign). Anyway, she's out of the picture now and I've adopted a NEW Jack Russell who is wonderful. BUT I got news tonight that the guy who adopted my previous Jack is having to give up both of his dogs. So, my little girl is coming back to me!!!!I'm sad for her adopted family making this a little bittersweet, I don't know the circumstances making it necessary, but I'm SO excited to be getting my little dog back! Now I just have to hope she'll get along with Bart and the cat... and that I have the energy to take care of two Jacks and a kitten. That's all, just had to share. It may be small news but it's HUGE to me.
Thanks Brian and Wave! Yeah, I was crushed to let her go. She was with me through a lot in my life and it was kind of like losing my security as odd as that sounds. I do feel really bad for her current family though. I know they love her as well and they have another Jack they're getting rid of too. If I could take them both I would but I don't think I can handle 3 and two of them males. I'm concerned enough about having two, but there's no way in the world I'm letting Blanca go to yet another family and especially not someone I don't know. And for those who don't know, that's her in my avatar.
hey mill, glad you got Blanca back i miss having a dog. i grew up with them, and had to let my last one go to the humane society in 99 because we moved to an apartment that didn't allow anything bigger than a stupid goldfish . i was watchin tv one day, and saw that he was in a PSA commercial for the humane society, so i called the tv station and got a copy of the tape. now i can see Swoosh whenever i want to i can't wait to have dogs again. my girlfriend loves em too, so that's a big bonus for me. she's allergic to cats and i don't like cats at all, so that was the first sign that i should stick with her

Yeah, I'm really glad she's coming back, too. Of course I guess I need to keep in mind that it all hinges on Bart and how he takes to her. But he's a really easy going pooch so I think he'll be OK.Heh, I kept running across pictures of her that I had taken and every one I saw was just another little tug at the pain that I felt having to get rid of her instead of making it easier. I really hope this all works out. Hope you're able to get another dog soon, too. They really are great companions.
Really happy to hear your family will once again be complete! My wife and I have 3 dogs, and they really are our children. I can't imagine having to give any of them up. And they all love to ride in the Vibe when we get Chinese takeout on Saturday nights, and the paper on Sunday mornings!

It may be small news but it's HUGE to me. Well, that's good and bad news now isn't it... I know there was something going on with the woman... meh, there are others... The DOG though, that had to be huge... This VERY same thing happened to my mother, with her Jack Lil'bit... They had a litter of pups, they were trying to find good homes for them and finally found one for Lil'bit, well, my mom didn't really mention to anyone that she had become so attached to him, until it was to late... I think she cried for 2 weeks.... well, fast forward a few months from that and the woman they sold Lil'bit to called my dad and told him they were moving and asked if he would be willing to buy him back from her, my dad didn't hesitate.... I happened to come over to there house that night and I was sooooo shocked to see him, but, moreso happy... My mom got home that night and I had lil'bit in my arms, back facing her when she walked in the door, she knew somethng was up and when I turned around, she was in total shock... I think she cried for a week on that one... happy of course.. glad to hear you finally got this sorted man.. I know it was weighing on you... I got this yesterday and find it fitting for you, right now...
It really is great news, yeah. I can't think of anything that would make me happier right now given everything. Well, there ARE a couple of things but the dog is definitely important. And I have to say, "Lil'bit", that is about the best Jack name I've ever heard! Now, as for your attachment. Yeah. That pretty much covers it. #2 under physical properties nails my situation to the very point!
Welcome home, Blanca! I'm happy for you, Wes. I know it was hard to give her up in the first place.I'm sure they'll all get along just fine... If my psychotic little yorkie can get along fine with a sister, anything is possible. Sometimes they do things to really surprise you.

Kev, it's got to be fate. No other way to explain it. That was the single hardest thing I think I've had to do in my life. I could go into the whole story of where I was in life when I got Blanca but I'd bore everyone to death and it's way more personal than I care to share with the Internet but Blanca truly saved me. To then have to give her away... I can't even explain that emptiness. That act made the dissolving of my engagement that much harder to deal with. Hey, see there? Millster IS human. But anyway, yeah CP I'm thinking she'll do just fine with Bart. Bart is about the most laid back dog I've ever known and Blanca, while insane, has never really had a problem getting along with others. I'm betting they'll be just fine.
Hey Wes! Keep your chin up and take it day by day. Glad your dog is coming back as well that is good news. Sad she was given up again and I am sure she is happy to return to you. I cannot imagine giving up our special cat with special needs, it would tear me up, not to mention him! Good you figured it all out now and made a change rather then getting married. Good move for sure! Good luck!

Sounds like that "relationship" was over before it really started, mang... I personally wouldn't have been able to do it... if it came down to my dog or "her" she'd a been looking for a new man... I do feel the same about my dog "saving" me... I don't know where I would be right now without Ruzz-T... I was in a sorry state when I got him... no job, no outlook, no future, depressed... Everyone around me told me later they could see the "change" happen... I had something to "care" for again... It was a VERY dark time for me.... Things are soo much better now.. It's been 3yrs since then...
Actually Sublime, I think you're more right than you know there. I don't think it ever really was. Maybe for me but I think I was a convenient paycheck. Your story with Ruzz-T (love that name, BTW) is pretty much exactly mine with Blanca... all the way to the point that Blanca turned 3 years on Feb 18th of this year. Interesting. What's interesting is that things having taken another "dark" turn, here comes the dog again... I'm not much for superstition but that's a lot of coincidence.

The way I look at it... you traded up... HAHAHA The dogs won't nag ya to do this or that or take them here or there... not to mention cheaper... for the most partYou are going to have a handful with two jacks... but I can understand being I have two britts... and they go NON_STOP!

Ha! These are jacks we're talking about here. They DO nag you to take them places. Of course it's in the form of springing 10 feet in the air at the door as you're getting ready to leave. It'll definitely be an experience, but Bart (my male) is really pretty calm. Blanca (the one I'm getting back) is another matter or at least she was when she left. But hey, at least they'll have each other to wear that energy off on. I won't have to be the one to hold the chewtoy all the time. I just hope my poor cat doesn't self-destruct over this.
we thought the same thing when we got Lilly. our second britt mix.You are correct they will wear each other out. You will only need to refill the water dish more often and more frequent potty brakes because of all the play. As for the cat we have a 13yr old and she is taking it in stride. They won't bother the cat because they have each other to bother. And if your cat gets along with one she won't even know there is a second there.

When my wife left, I insisted on keeping the dogs. We put the agreement in writing to ensure that they stayed with me. One of the best decisions that I ever made. When times are tough, there's nothing like the unconditional love of a dog to get you through.

I'm so glad you're getting your dog back! I couldn't live without cats and luckily for me, the hubby loves cats too and already had one when I met him.

Thanks again, everyone! Just thought I'd update the thread now that I'm home and so is she. She took right to Bart, no problem. Even the cat doesn't mind and she doesn't mind the cat. Looks like we have a lot of walks and a major diet change in our future (she gained a LOT of weight) but the important part is that my little girl is back. Life is looking up.
Wes, I have not stayed up in the life of my friend, so sorry to hear the break up news. However, i'm glad you are getting your best friend back. Please make sure you post up pics of the happy puppy reunion!
glad she's gettin along with the other kids in the house. and like hope said, post pics before the torches are lit

I’m kind of late getting to this post, but congrats! I’ve had Jack Russells for about 15 years so I know how great they can be. I’m glad to hear that the 2 dogs are opposite (removed). I did a LOT of homework before I found the first one and the “experts†said to never mix same (removed) Jack Russells together because they can get very territorial. I got our 1st Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix when I was in college and I had her for 14 years before we had to put her down last year. She was the sweetest and toughest dog. Jack Russells are a big dog in a small dog body. She never quite knew how little she was. She was once on her leash and saw 2 great big German Shepards being walked on leash. She went running after them, broke her leather collar, and continued towards the German Shepards. Luckily the German Shepards were good dogs and just sniffed her. A few years ago, we let her out back in our fenced-in yard to do her “business†and she came back all bloody and very injured. Apparently she saw a raccoon and attacked it. She was about 12 years old at the time. After surgery, stitches, and a week at the vet she was OK. She ended up killing the raccoon. We found the body just outside the fence. Now we have a Jack Russell/Beagle mix. She is the sweetest dog and great with the kids. We’re still trying to get through the puppy stage. I don’t remember it being this hard. Sorry, I'm making this WAY too long.
I'm glad she's back home, Wes! I'm sure she's happy to be back. Great news to hear that she's getting along well with her newfound siblings and vice versa.

Hope: No worries. There wasn't really too much to keep up with since she left in December and I only now even really mentioned it on here. Hope and MRCN RCE:Photos will be forthcoming... everyone was just a little too excited last night to sit still. Hopefully I can get them to cooperate within the next couple of days. p8md:Definitely on the "no same (removed) jacks". Even opposite, they can be a little standoffish. Blanca tried once to take Bart last night and then that was it. From then on they've gotten along great. I was going to crate Bart this morning when I left the house but decided it just wasn't worth it. The way he was carrying on in the crate, he probably would have hurt himself worse than any damage Blanca could do to him. Curiously, the cat goes largely ignored unless she starts something, then the two dogs chase her into a corner and walk away.
Reminds me of one of them country tunes: "Mah best frien' done ran ooouff with mah wife an' mah dawg...And Iah shore dew miss that dawg!"Glad that your old friend Blanca is back with you once again. Human relationships may come and go, but dogs are loyal forever!Oh yeah, got pics?

I was too busy making sure there weren't any fights amongst the "zoo" last night to set up and snap. Probably have to settle for snapshots, too since I doubt I'll get either of the jacks to sit in front of a backdrop and stay within my lighting.

Millster...I'm SO happy that you got your baby girl back, as I'm sure she must be too! As for the significant other, don't you know that small cute dogs are chick magnets? Take the furbabies to the dog park, to the beach, out walking, etc. If your area has petwalks/pet expos, that would be a nice place to start too; you WILL find someone again soon-who is NOT allergic and NEVER cause you to be parted with your baby ever again!
Yeah, I think she's happy. I came home at lunch to a little mess on the floor but that's probably just from being left. She didn't get in trouble although she KNEW what she had done. You're absolutely right about the walking thing (though I DO take exception to the BEACH mention;)). I plan to get a tandem leash for them because Blanca definitely needs some walking time right now. I've already told my friends, if I ever start talking like I'm giving up my dog kidnap the girl I'm with and take her far, far away! Man, I mean I gave up my dog, sold my motorcycle... and for what?!Sadly, I don't think the dealership will be calling me and saying "gee, we'd sure like to give your bike back".
