Worn Tires

Help!! I just bought my Vibe GT at the end of December. It now has 6,400 miles on it. I took it in yesterday to the dealer because the front two tires are worn down to the tread wear indicators. The dealer checked the suspension and alignment out and everything was within specifications. The advisor told me that the wear pattern was consistent with frequent aggressive driving maneuvers. Now, I'm not a granny, but I did buy the GT. No hand-brake burnouts yet, and usually shift around 4,000 rpm. Anyone else with this problem? Do you think it's my driving, or is the dealer full of horsepuckey?

What kind of tires do you have?

They are the Continental's and yes the are the 16" the dealer is replacing them under warranty, I'm just curious what could cause the wear. It's even on both tires and also more to the outside than inside. Sounds like a camber or caster thing and not "aggresive driving".

I don't have the GT but I drive mine like it was a GT. I have 8500 miles on mine and the tires are still holding strong. I would get a second opinion from another source. Have you rotated your tires since you got your Vibe? I don't think that would matter too much. When I took mine in fro the last oil change they said the tread wear on my front tires compared to my back tires were so close that I wouldn't need a rotation till my next oil change. i still have apporx 60% left until I hit the indicator. Sorry to hear about your tires though, hope you get the problem resolved.Shadow

Agressive driving! I think they have a pat response for every warranty complaint. 6K miles is not a lot of miles, especially considering the cheapest of cheap tires are usu. warranted for 30-40K. I have the Contis too - I was at the dealer yesterday and saw a Vibe with the Goodyear's - I was so envious!I hate the Conti's on wet roads - I had to abort pulling out of Wendy's today and try again because the tires kept on spinning - I wasn't being aggressive either, they refused to bite.
