Speed, Stupidity and temps below 20 (please be careful)

Post by Whelan »

http://www.wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=7857939This is literally a stones throw from my house. I went to the other high school in my town not this one, of course that was years ago. But please be safe out there. Apparently they were driving on a road in the mall that is more like a ring road that goes around the back. So there is only one lane for each side with turn lanes here and there. They go to pass someone and of course are speeding, come around the bend, lose control and nail a telephone pole. My buddy drove by as they were pulling the car off the pole and he said it looked like the car melted around it. I do feel bad for the families but stupidity is the main cause of this horrific disaster.

Shopping malls are a great place to do warp speed, there's no radar traps.

I feel NOTHING for them asshats... Like you said, it's winter, in a parking lot, on a bend, lined with curbs and poles... Stupid is as stupid does... I'm just glad they offed themselves before they could hurt someone else.. Darwin strikes again...

I will feel bad for them if it was a complete accident. This was plain stupid. You don't get my sympathy for your own stupidity. I didn't ask for sympathy when I did some break dancing in the shower last month.

It is a tragedy all around. Yes it sounds like they were being stupid, but stupid doesn't deserve a death sentence. Most of us have done stupid things at one time or another, and sometimes we survive more because of good luck. Their luck, unfortunately, ran out. What a waste. Be careful out there.

That is unless you covered the bottom of the tub, with dish soap and THEN decided to take your shower, THEN yes, it would have been stupidity.. These guys KNEW what they were doing and most likely KNEW the road they were on... STUPID to the highest degree...

Be careful out there.I have to agree on this, i've calmed down quite a bit, and gotten a lot "smarter" One course of physics gave me a healthy respect for the world and the forces around me... to the point of being somewhat scared to do things i've done in the past.. (ahem... drifing on ramps) But even with that said, I would NEVER "drift" in an area where I could potentialy hurt myself or others... I am older and smarter though... I've done some REALLY DUMB things, things that should have killed me and others, so I CAN relate... I've been lucky, but, now i realize how stupid some of the thing i've done WHERE.. But, given the situation and circumstances of this story... I got NOW love for these kids.. "Stupid is, as Stupid does, or so they say" -Forrest Gump...

I jumped off and the result wasn't pretty. I deserved being injured. Death is a pretty cruel punishment for a joy-ride.

the driver was 17, that says enough for me. the kid had his license for maybe a year or so. he barely knew how to drive normally on dry roads in the summertime, and he's gonna drive fast as hell on a street in winter weather?? i feel sorry for the passengers he was tryna show off for. they say bad things happen in 3's, so unfortunately, the critical kid will prolly kick the bucket too.yeah, i did some dumb crap before, and i still do sometimes. everybody does. but when it comes to doin stuff in cars, i'm by myself when i do it. i don't wanna live with the fact that i hurt (or worse ) my girlfriend or friend in a crash because i wanted to show that i could beat the guy next to me or whatever. it would kill me . i wanna take my lady to the track with me, but i wouldn't have her in the passenger seat. i'd have her in the stands makin videos of my runs (so i could upload my kills on youtube. the losses would "accidentally" get deleted haha)

The driving age in the State of Oklahoma is legislated to increase to 18 yrs within the next few years ...due to lack of judgement on the part of 16-17 yr old drivers.

I feel bad mostly for the family and friends. It sucks that these two kids lost their lives and another is injured. They were 16-18. They dont have the maturity level or the experience that most of us have. messing around, having fun, thinking they are in control.I lost two good friends about a month after HS Graduation - not because they were being stupid, it was just a bad intersection that many people have lost their lives at. Their families and friends are still struggling with it. My Brother is in Drivers Ed right now, he wont be able to drive on his own until march of next year, then i believe there is a 3 month probationary period where he cant drive with anyone under 21 unless there is someone over 21 present but still... Kids get in wrecks because of lack of experience. Let them drive only with parental supervision for a long period of time, not just a few months. The problem with that is many parents dont make their kids drive.
