I just cought this, thought it was interesting as i've known people with medical problems that took Marinol, which is nothing like the "real" thing.... I am an advocate for natural health practices, and there are some other really BIG names that are advocates as well (read: Montel Willams, Woody Harrelson(SP?))Now, i'm not trying to promote, but, some people out there NEED this....http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22910820/Quote »LOS ANGELES - The city that popularized the fast food drive-thru has a new innovation: 24-hour medical marijuana vending machines.Patients suffering from chronic pain, loss of appetite and other ailments that marijuana is said to alleviate can get their pot with a dose of convenience at the Herbal Nutrition Center, where a large machine will dole out the drug around the clock."Convenient access, lower prices, safety, anonymity," inventor and owner Vincent Mehdizadeh said, extolling the benefits of the machine.

They aren't just out on the streets, they are in "medical-cannabis dispensaries" behind automated gates and inside buildings that have "guards" standing by.. This ISN'T for everyone, before I start getting flack, this is for medical MJ card carrying people, that have had it prescribed to them... Please think about the person, that is going through AGONY maybe with glaucoma or cancer, on chemo, the cancer patient is the perfect example, they are sick, can't eat, don't want to eat... a little goes a LONG way for stimulating the appetite... I had a friend, 24, when he was diagnosed with bone cancer, it was all I could do to not DIE inside for him... I even provided him with the goods, which he never used... It was a lose-lose situation for me.... it doesn't have to be for others..
They use a prescription card that has an account linked to it. So you swipe your card and then have to give a fingerprint to obtain the drug. It only dispences 1/8 to 2/8 of an ounce at a time depending. Not like you walk up, order a brick and swipe your debit card. They are there for convenience and privacy as some people do not want to walk up to counters or wait in long lines. Besides if you are doing the doses properly you do not get enough to get completely baked out, just enough to numb the pain and feel better. Although they still recommend not driving.Give me a nicely packed bowl of Northern Lights, Vermont Indoor, Hydro and I would be all set. What am I saying, I gave up ganja years ago. Although I may occasionally dip in the jar if its around once in a great while and get myself a quick hit, nothing more. It's hard cause I got so picky that regular kin bud is like drinking $2 wine. Blech!

And I'm not going to comment on the legitimacy of medical marijuana, because honestly, I don't know much about it.But if there is some sort of automated machine holding pot, I could see it being a problem. It's on a major website, people are going to know about it, and I think people are going to find a way to steal it.If they need medical pot, I would think the best place would be a pharmacy, with other controlled substances. It's not like they don't have 24 hour pharmacies.

Typically, people who are "against" it, tend to make snap judgments and really don't look at any of the benifits of it... which really irks me...The whole pot thing is really nothing more than a giant money making endevor, now used by lawmakers and laywers alike to generate revinew, while at the same time, filling jails, so it has a HUGE "trickle down" effect, when you consider all the jobs being supported by a "criminal" moving throughout the judicial system... WoW, I really sound like I should be more active in the "political" section... Meh, it's a losing battle, no lawyer is going to give up his income for a bunch of potheads, no matter HOW many people it could help... I could go on and on about the benifits of HEMP and hemp seed (no THC involved) but, it's been a while... Look at what pot has done for Canada *cough* kevera *cough* 2nd largest cash crop, directly behind OIL...
Hey that's okay. No hard feelings. It's just that the concept of vending machines with controlled substances seems pretty weird to me. Like if they had a vending machine with birth control pills or something else you need a prescription for. And if it's pot, I could see people wanting to steal it. Then again, I really don't know much about it, so I'll leave the rest of this discussion up to you guys.
