Changing from Conventional oil to synthetic?

Post by dennisdrive »

Hi everybody,I know this subject has been raised several times in different posts. I just wanted to know if changing from conventional to synthetic will cause any oil leaks or not . I have gone thru the posts , some say that there is no problem changing over , some say if the engine is young it is ok otherwise there will be leak from the oil gasket. Well the vibe i drive is a 2004 model , been on the road since Dec 2004 with 47,000 Km till to date . The next oil change is due in March and i have always been inclined to getting synthetic oil but have been apprehensive if doing so will cause oil leaks . Can anyone please clarify this and give me their input . All advices much appreciated.

Changing to synthetic oil does not cause leaks, it's an old wives tale. I changed my GMC truck over to synth last year with 150,000 km and no problems. I changed to synth with 80,000 km on my '04 Vibe, no problems. My '06 Vibe I changed to synth on the first oil change.

Just Google 'synthetic oil myths' and get educated.........no opinions, just facts.
