From the factory now with the 2.0L Duratec engine and 216hp from a car the size of a Honda Fit!'Everybody clap your hands for Ford ******* up again by not bringing us a car that would sell well in the states. Spend money to make money guys, its economics. Make plants here that can produce cars like this and the Euro Focus, or somehow get the cost down to ship them over. GM is doing this very successfully with Saturn, as their whole lineup is pretty much Opels with very minimal changes. And the new Focus on our shores is a POS built off the old chassis with the same weak base engine.
Actually it's SHOgun, lol. They dropped the DOHC V6 3.0L in the back behind the front seats, made if Mid RWD, gas tank up front, braced and did a lot of body work. 12.9 1/4 @100mph not bad for a Festiva.Further reading I found that apparently Ford is planning to bring the Fiesta back to the US in 2009. Knowing them they will probably give us some 97hp slushbox with a 4 speed manual and 13" alloys.
Oh, sorry, I missed the SHOgun part of the wording.. I had a friend that was going to drop a toyota celica turbo motor in to his festiva once.. I moved away before I knew weather or not get finished it.. but it's almost a drop in for a festiva (the older celicas that is)

If Ford brings it over as is and give us 216hp with a 2.0L. I may just have to seriously consider trading out the Trix and picking this up. Figure those little Fits and Versas go for about 12k-15k or so. The Focus starts at 14k. So you would be looking at say $12 for the Fiesta and for 13-14k you would get this package. Hmm, give me a little over 10 for my Trix (totally doable since its still sittin at like 14), I'll be flipped still or just even, so figure my payments would drop about $100 a month or be $50 less than they are now. Either way, I get a sweet ride.Although no AWD, crap guess I'll wait to get my Subie.

My sources say you have an old picture. That is the current Fiesta. The 2009 concept is much more CRXish (and better looking IMO).I personally hope to see a small turbo diesel engine in it.3 doorAnd the sedan.
Those are very sexy for sure. But knowing Ford, they will give us the last years model like they always have. We got the last Focus a little after it was introduced in Europe.Ford talks of this whole global platforming, but yet we are still riding on the old frames.Bottom line is if you want a European Ford, go pickup a Mazda. The 3 is based off the current Focus over there. The 5 is based off the Ford SMAXX, even the new 6 is going to be running off the new Mondeo frame. (which I'm not sure the Fusion is using?) Or if you want a little more luxury with the same I-5 in the Focus over there, pickup a Volvo C30, same pinnings and engine used in the Focus performance model there.

Heres a picture of the 'Verve' (Fiesta overseas) from the North American International Auto Show that was just held. The poster has more pics that he'll hopefully be posting. If your interested I can repost them here.
And you would be right Northvibe. Ford is planning on using their 'EcoBoost' technology (direct injection with turbocharging) on the car. Here are a bunch of smaller pictures. While I really like the interior, the coloring leaves something to be desired. I replace it mentally with a nice midnight metalic blue.
