Possibility of an electric car..... for sale at Wal-Mart

Post by Sublimewind »

Thought this was interesting... http://editorial.autos.msn.com...40939Quote »Walk into a Wal-Mart in the not-too-distant future and among the thousands of products for sale will be an electric car. It will not be a remote control car, a golf cart or a little scooter to help granny cruise the aisles. The battery-powered automobile will look every bit like a MINI Cooper. This is because it will be a MINI Cooper, just with a powerful electric motor under the hood and a stack of lithium batteries where the gas tank used to be.

Ha. At that price, you'd never make up for the additional upfront cost.

A MINI Coop from Wal-mart? Since I boycott everything Wal-mart, does this mean I will have to boycott MINI too?

Only 120 miles per charge?? That sucks! Totally not worth the money! And how are people supposed to buy it... Walmart got rid of Layaway, they gonna start financing now? lolI sure as hell would never shell out 35grand to walmart. 65grand is just pure rediculous.

thats not a bad price. compared to a IC car, there would be like zero maintenance. along with that, how often do you actually travel more than 120 miles? the main thought is the electric car would be your daily commuter and if you had to tow or travel far youd take something else. this car would fit like 90% of the population for a daily commuter. just try to add up the annual cost of maintenance on a IC car...it gets crazy.
