My son was driving home yesterday and had to brake hard to avoid a deer . The car stalled and wouldn't crank . He got it jump started , now it won't start . The battery is fully charged , the dash lights come on when the key is turned on , but when I go to start it , they go off and the starter just clicks and won't crank. We haven't had any poblems starting the car until this happened yesterday . The car has 43,000 mi. and we are the original owners . I'd like to avoid a repair bill . Any idea what the problem may be ? PCM or issue with battery ?
Try removing and cleaning out the battery connections. Can't see why breaking should have caused this problem but that would be the first thing to check. Also have you tested the battery - how do you know it is fully charged. Have you load tested it?

Why it happened the way it did, only one person knows and it's none of us I assure you of that... But I would deffinitly be looking at the connections first and then at replacement...
I'll echo what's been already said, check and clean the battery terminals. Make sure the battery is charged. If it was a 2003, then I'd say the battery is done for. You said it was a 2006 Vibe, so it seems way to early for a normal battery to give up. Also seems too early for enough corrosion to build up on the battery terminals to cause a problem. Maybe also check to make sure electrical connectors are tight, at the battery and the starterYou said that when it happened, he got it jump started but now it won't start. Does that mean that you can't even get it jump started? Not sure what Sublime means about one person knowing what happened. RIght now it sounds like nobody will know till you get it fixed, when you do, please let us know what the fix was.Good luck, welcome to genvibe!
I think Sublimewind was saying only God knows. At least it's what I think.Same thing with computers, know one really knows how they work! It's a mystery!Maybe the car was cursed by the deer?Man, I am no help.
I tested it with my charge tester , but apparently I have a dead cell , because it is losing it's charge . My son just got home with the other car and jump started it right off the bat , so I know it's the battery . I tightened all of the connections and put a charge on it , but it won't start without a jump . I'm buying a battery . I don't know why it stalled , unless the sharp forward force knocked the connections loose ..... I appreciate the help .
I've stalled before coming to a hard stop while auto crossing... but the car always restarted. Only did that once and thats because I wiped out and locked up the brakes lol
