Viva la Pontiac! 2009 Jet Black GT
where did the ls7 come from?"Holden crammed the L98 6.0-litre Gen IV V8 under the bonnet, which pumps out 362hp and 391 ft-lb. That’s enough to sling the 3,895 pound (1,767kg) Holden Ute from zero to 100-km/h (62-mph) in just 5.5 seconds."hmm...cool but may end up like the SSR

From Wikipedia:In February 2004, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 set both the Guinness World Record and Sports Car Club of America's record for the world's fastest production truck[3] with an average speed of 154.587 mph (248.784 km/h). However this record has since been broken by the Australian Holden Special Vehicles LS2 6.0 litre V8 Maloo R8 Ute setting the new speed at 271.44 km/h (168.7 mph).Edit: I'm guessing the Ram's speed was drag limited, and the Holden is probably a lot more aerodynamic.
Attached are twwo pics of a cab/chassis Holden Commodore ute (the model/shape before the current). This was the 3.6l V6 work ute (not a truck) although it was rated to and did quite well carry 1800kg (3960lbs) in the back and i cant recall what its rated towing limit was, but I guess it was about the same. We did tow a 5700kg (12540lb) aircraft around with it.It had a removable lift crane in the back for lifting small jet engines.Utes, like this are very common in Aust for trade work. They tend to be Ford, Holden, Toyota and Nissan 6 or 4 cylinder and many diesel powered, many of these models are not sold in the US
