Now that joatmon helped solve a smaller issue with a 2004 GT (43K miles), this one is likely more difficult. When accelerating (gently or otherwise), a slight but noticeable noise comes from the engine area. The noise is more pronounced with gears 1 through 4. To describe the noise is difficult, but it sounds close to a pinging noise due to incorrect octane gas. I always use 91 or higher. The noise has been present since I purchased the vehicle, at 30K miles. This noise is also much more noticeable next to a median or curb, with the passenger window down. I have checked all of the heat shields as best I can, and all appear to be OK. I had a pontiac dealer technician drive the vehicle with me, and he could hear the noise, but did not have another used vibe at the time to compare. Performance does not appear to be affected, as I get 27 overall. Any suggestions are appreciated.
