Hello all,I've been enjoying my new 2007 Vibe for the past few months. First new car I've ever purchased. I've noticed quite a rattle from the rear of the car, sounding perhaps like metal on plastic, and not just a small part rattling around. I've tried making sure the hatch and glass are closing properly and that the cargo floor cover is secured (although when I tap on it, there is some loose plasticy noise that doesn't sound like the rattle in question).I noticed that the jack is only held down by a small rubber bungie (in my other cars it's bolted in), so I thought that was the culprit. I wrapped it in a pillowcase, bungied it down tighter and eventually stuffed a blanket around it as well as the tire iron, which felt a little loos too. There was no change in the rattling sound, so that wasn't the culprit. It's getting annoying and seems like it may be worse with the cold, but that could be my imagination.Any ideas? Eventually I'll take it to the dealer but it sounds silly to go in just for this.--------------------------2007 Vibe5 spd, Moonstone, Monotone, Sun & Sound
there are those 2 side compartments as well. Also check the compartment directly behind the back seats, i had my cover in there the hooks could be rattling.OH A MN MEMBER!! Welcome!! dang you just missed a vibe meet we had last month.
Thanks, I actually took off those 2 side compartment doors before driving to work this AM and there was no change in the noise. Gah-I didn't realize there was another compartment directly behind the seat--was wondering what that other little dial was for. I'll have to try that, although I still think it's coming from the hatch itself.
there could be a loose part in the hatch assembly door. Also what about those little fish eye hooks that go in the back floor for tying things down, do you have those installed or are they in that spare wheel compartment? mine were and bang around a little.
is the rear lid to the main storage comartment in the locked position? occasionaly i will get a rattle and then find i left it in the unlocked position locking it makes the rattle go away.
