Dynamat Installed - Doors and Trunk - Pics

Dynamat Extreme: I covered all 4 doors, trunk area, and under the rear seats. Road noise is reduced, virtually all rattles have vanished, and the stereo sounds more crisp and tighter. Pics below of trunk install. (Edit: Added 2 more pics of door install)

See above, just added 2 more pics.... (ran outside and popped off my driver side door panel).The doors were easy compared to the trunk. I placed Dynamat inside the door on the inside of the outer skin (?) and then covered the interior door panel, including cutting out the hole for the speaker and misc wires, bolts, etc. All in all, it took me 3 days.The plastic door panel has some styrofoam chunks on the back of it that pushed thru holes in the door. I made sure to shape the dynamat to accomodate for the styro-chunks.BTW... the dynamat is very sharp. I spent the next day with 5 band aids on my hands. Like little razor cuts.Enjoy

Nice job! How is the noise level?I have completed the rear hatch area and rear doors so far.Front doors are next.Used 2nd Skin Product and also foil both side insulation.

Good show, chap... Question, did you add any to the outter skin behind the speakers in the doors?? If not, you REALLY need to.... remember your speakers are working off of the inner AND outer door skin. It's just as important if not MORE important to add some behind the speakers in the door... Even if it is a 1' square behind them... DO IT... lol Your mids will thanks me, that is if you haven't done this, if you have disreguard... lol

are you able to put your spare in stilll?? i'm contemplating doing this for my car when i'm home on leave but I want to make sure my wife will have a spare should she need one.

Sure, the mat is barely 1/8" thick, if not 3/16"...It's a shame Rick@RAAMAudio didn't frequent these boards, we get a discount on NASIOC for being a member from him and RAAMat is superior to Dynamat in most every regard... Not saying Dynamat is bad in any way, it just has it's shortcomings... For general purpose use, buy the CHEAPEST stuff you can, make sure you clean really well before hand (like used some good quality(99%) isopropal acholcol(SP?) and a lot of rags) and a LOT of heat from a heat gun or hair drier, preferably a heat gun, but, be carefull of dynomat burns, it's like napalm when really hot, sticks and BURNS.... ask me how i know this...

You cut the sound proofing around them. The foam pads are about 1/2" higher than the cargo floor itself.

In fact, I put more behind my speakers along the entire door skin than most folks. Top of the door, middle of the door, and along the entire bottom behind the speaker Disregarding!

If Dynamat is good enough for Foose, its good enough for me . I love the results and I'm glad I spent the money and time to do this project. Dynamat rocks and was so easy to work with... and Amazon.com had it on sale fopr $105 per bulk pack. I bought 2 packs (free shipping, no sales tax) and have one sheet left over. I might buy one more bulk pack so I can line the rest of my floor-boards under the dash and front seats.

Spare and all! Also... once you get your cargo area stripped out, you're going to realize how much space is actually in the Vibe.... I'm not kidding, with a little custom fiberglass work, you could install some serious subwoofers in the back of this ride and keep them completely tucked out of the way!

looks real good, but doesnt it add alot of weight? that stuff aint exactly light, a few people i know have used a similar sound detenator, but it's black, and pretty much like sand paper almost and does an amazing job, aint as messy, and not nearly as heavy as the tar/foil stuffhopefully someone knows what im talking about and info on it, would love to get some for my vibe but i dont know what it's called

It's the old tin can test... grab an old coffee can and bang on the side... bling bling bling... now fill it with water (add mass) and bang on it.. thud thud thud... It's the same thing in the car.. It lowers the resonante frequency to below the noise floor of the car (road noise in most cases) so any deadener will work, some just work better than others and some are easier to work with than others.. Dynamat takes a LOT of heat to make it stick really well, to the point of melting it... (i could show you dynamat burn marks, or napalm as i like to call it)

No smell... super clean

I used FatMat, also a butyl/foil product, with a super strong adhesive. It smelled for about a week. Works great! Still solid, no rattling, still quiet. My install thread w/tons of pics: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=28424

well..i dont know what to say, my buddy has it in his car(i dont talk to him at all anymore) but its pretty much like dynamat, but thinner, black, and looks similar to sandpaper, thats all i can say..does the same thing though
