Snaped a lug stud

Post by CountryVibe »

I started to rotate my tries today and I snapped a wheel lug on the front passenger side. The lug nut was not even tight I was able to take the broken lug out of the lug nut with my fingers.Makes me worried now that other one could snap at any moment.I was a pain getting the old one out and back in you have to rotate the wheel just right to a notch on the inside of the hub and bang it45 mins for a simple job

did this when i was lowering my car. I just went to toyota and got new studs. Mine was from over tightening though (a friends mechanic dad did it). He said to just get at least 3 for that rim, just in case. They were cheap at the yota dealer...not sure at pontiac. Did you go get new ones?

Please, do your car a favor and go buy a cheap torque wrench.... 70-80ft/lbs for the lugs and NO lube.... I never snapped a stud, but i popped the ends out of lugs from stretching the studs...
