Hello to Genvibe! Just bought an '05 AWD (Platinum/Graphite) last weekend for my 43-mile daily commute up US 1 and the GS Parkway in NJ. So far, I love it - curious how it will do in the snow.
Welcome to GenVibe! The AWD does great in the snow. When I was lowered 2", I plowed thru 10" of snow with no problems. I was literally plowing it! It blocked my headlights and started coming over my hood. It was a light fluffy snow though. As long as you have a good set of all-season or winter tires, you should have no problems. Unless, of course, you get dumped on with 12"+ of snow. Then you might have a problem. lol.

If you put snows on it - not a big investement, you'd be able to drive up the side of the Empire State Building. Without them, you'll be just fine. The snows will improve your stopping ability - often important in winter driving.
welcome,I have an 06 awd and last winter with the stock rs-a's on I was still able to drive around in 8-10inchs of snow. Starting on Hills and watching people galk at you as you just pull away with out spinning your tires is priceless!

Thanks to all - I'm (almost) looking forward to the snow! Anyone have info on the tread life of the stock RS-As? My last car ('01 Ford Focus ZX3) was very good on tires - 82.5K on the OE Firestone Firehawk GTA02s and 46K on the replacement Kumho ECSTA ASXs with a decent amount of tread remaining.
I live in North Dakota (we do get a fair amount of snow!!) and the Vibe handles great in snow. I did replace the original Conti tires with Yokohama AVID TRZs though. I'd highly recommend those tires.
Welcome to the site.First thing you might want to do is disable the noise from the angry red flashy guy, about your seat belt not being done up.There's a post here somewhere about that, (this gives you a good excuse to try the "search" function too).About the RS-A tread life? crappy. I'm just barely at 30,000km, and these are almost toast. And they aren't too terribly sticky either.

While they were better then the Continental tires my Vibe came with, still not the best all season tire. I'd run those for summer and maybe pick up a good winter tire.Welcome to the board.
