My son's friend just finished this thing and rode it over to show him. It's the second or third one he's built, he just turned 19.Maybe there is still hope for the youth of today, I guess not all of them want to be computer geeks. The bike: The engine: The 5 speed derailleur: My boy (with the mohawk) and his friend:

Nice!Looking at the pics, I'm guessing the pedals turn when the engine is running. Would be cool to figure out a way around that. What is the engine off of? I know Poulan makes things like weed eaters and chainsaws.Where does the gas go?All we need now is electric start and we'll be ready to dyno that sucker Seriously, though, very nice.
The motor is from a chainsaw, the tank is under the seat, it's actually part of the chainsaw housing. The pedals don't need to turn when the engine is running, I think he scavenged a bicycle freewheel assembly and just adapted it to the bottom bracket (where the pedals are).@ Kamikaze:Yeah, the speedo actually works too.He said he has had it up to 30km/hr. and that's just in first gear. I had it up to about 20 just out front of the house, and man is it scary!Did I mention that the caliper brakes don't work real well? The quickest way to stop is kill the motor, and do a Flintstone type emergency stop with both feet. Honest.@ Drunken:If my son would consider you someone to hang around with, then you are welcome here anytime, (although since you don't own a Vibe anymore, that is one strike against you. )

I wouldn't mind getting some plans for it
