replacing stock speakers

Post by protoman »

I just bought an 2007 Vibe and it is equipped with the standard stereo system. I would like to replace the speakers and have read many of the posted questions and responses but still need some help. When you install new speakers should the existing grill on the inside door skin be cut away and replaced with a conventional speaker grill to allow for the passage of more sound or is this a waste of time?Has anyone installed new speaker grills without replacing the stock speakers just to see if there was a huge difference in sound quality? Are these speakers all 4 ohms? What is the power rating? Can anyone suggest some speakers that are moderately priced but do a competent job?Sorry for all the questions. I am a nubbie.
