you driving that on the street?? and VF22, eh? should be a high 12- low 13 sec car i would think. do you know the guy selling it and who's installed everything? one thing I have learned in the subie world: never buy a used turbo subie! LOL. unless you know the person and what/who's worked on the car and they can show you what they've done to it. even still, a car like that is bound to have some mechanical problems over time, maybe not right away, but will eventually. i hope you have a good tuner nearby or in mind in case there's ever a problem.but yes, i can understand why you'd be excited. we'd love to pick up an RS and do a full STI swap as a project: STI block, STI 6MT, etc, the works. but i will say i'm jealous of that roll cage and harness. very very NICE!

I'm not all about the wheels either, here in Mi, them 18" "may" be out of the question... I'm getting the stock (16lb) Impreza RS wheels as well, so it'll be on them most of the time, i'm sure...Quote »I hate you.Find your way to central Mi and i'll give you a ride..!!! I want numbers or track times or a ride or something... hahacongrats, man Me to, i'm worried about the stock RS thranny though, it's good to about 300hp and then it detonates.... I'm thinking about taking it out and having the whole thing cryo-treated.... I assure you, i'll be getting it weighed and then i'll be G-tech'ing it ASAP... You make your way up to central Mi with K-Nine and you both get rides on the wild side... lolQuote »you driving that on the street?? and VF22, eh? should be a high 12- low 13 sec car i would think. do you know the guy selling it and who's installed everything? one thing I have learned in the subie world: never buy a used turbo subie! The guy said it's rather mild mannered, he was building it for road racing and it tuned to be strong rather than HIGH strung... The guy did most of the work himself, Rallispec of NJ did the wireing harness for him and tuned it... He did a compression test again for me at my request and got #1 145psi #2 145psi #3 148psi #4 146psi, he said he would run it down to Rallispec again and have them scan it just to make sure everything was in working order... It's been his baby and i feel really confident that he's on the up-n-up, he also has a M3 and a Mini Cooper S for toys. As far as the problems, most of them i can handle... My main thing is finding a shell that is in such good condition, as i to will be looking into a full STi swap sometime down the road... Think you might be interested in the cage??? I'm not overly thrilled about it myself, while it's cool, it's not very practicle. It may come out... I also have to get an interior for it, everything but the fron and rear seats is GONE.... It will make it MUCH easier to sound deaden it though... It's going to be getting a KILLER system.... nothing crazy heavy, but, it's going to ROCK... I have all of it built already, it's still in my RS...!!! I'm actually just going to copy what i have now and build it all new... It's all very livable... My Impreza is much more a part of me than anything else, it's a love affare on a grand scale... At risk of being yelled at for going off topic, I completely agree, as far as the 'car love' thing. Lots of people wonder why I love my Pontiac. But that is the reason I am on a PONTIAC forum. If I loved the Subaru (the car God himself must drive), I would be on a Subaru forum all day. That is all I'm saying.
i think perhaps subaru is great if all you care about is performance. i find it hard to believe an imprezza of any kind is as comfy as my car and has all the options to boot, especially for the price. around here, subaru hardly exists. most people find them hideous.perhaps this is the same point others are trying to make? i'm sure they are great performers, but if they were so fantastic, i would imagine i would see more of them.

My RS came factory stock with 165hp at the motor and by the time ir reaches the ground 95hp...!!!!! So in terms of shear performance, it's more about handling and traction... Now, in terms of traction.. i have a lil'pic for you...These are the things that make me love my Subie... The new car, well that will be different... It's all about the performance, it was being built as a road racer...as far as seeing them, i'm in the same boat, i live in the land of Ford and Chevy, i'll have to drive almost 3hrs to get a proper tuning, should i need it... When i lived in VT, they were the MOST common cars on the road... Quote »Nice car, why's the motor all wet? Some of the pics were taken in the rain.... I must admit, i nearly killed my girlfriend at the time and I, that FIRST night from SS.....Those things under the headlights are the foglight covers, there SHOULD be 7" round fogs there, but because of the intercooler piping, they had to be removed and covered... Very nice car :-)Do I get a ride in yours since you rode in my GN?Forget the G-tech....take it to the track!!!You near Mid-Michigan motorplex? I've never been there but it seems like a nice place.
don't worry about the haters. no matter what car you get, someone will always not like it. and trust me, GVC is anything BUT a subaru forum. i spend plenty of time on here, NASIOC and the legacy forums. I'll always love my Vibe GT for what it represents, it was a great little car, but it just didn't get me up hills or the performance i needed/wanted. now i have the best of both worlds. AWD turbo and a 12 sec family sedan. i miss the vibe and it's functionality. It was a great car, served me well. even the 04 Vibe Mav had we just sold also was a great little car. as for why subaru's aren't so popular in places like Chicago?? well, perhaps there isn't a very big push for the brand? come to the Pacific Northwest and you will see how many Subies are on the road. come up to Anchorage where 50% of all registered vehicles are Subarus. These are kinda niche vehicles, just like a Cadillac, or Mustang, etc. So the following, once you have one, brings not just a car, but a lifestyle, friends, activities, etc. When I bought my 05 LGT 2 years ago I had no idea that I'd make so many friends. i've made some great friends on this site, but from far away. so it's nice to actually find a group of enthusiasts on a local and national level that share the same joy as i do (and Mav). no matter what car we may drive, we'll always love GVC! and i doubt it'll be any different for sublimewind.

As far as tracks, i don't know of ANY to be honest, i've never thought about it, i've never had a car worthy of it... My Subie was SLOW, well in comparo to the GN that is... She (my RS) took her share of cars, that you would never think it could, though... Also, i would be concerned about doing any drags with the new Subie, it's got the RS tranny in it, and they are known for gernading at ~300hp, which it "should" be near with all of the mods... This is why i'm considering pulling the tranny and having it Cryo treated... Quote »Damn, I want! My new boss keeps telling me, you CAN'T fix "stupid" but ignorance is fixable... He is a very wise man... Also, Chi-town (chicago) has a HUGE Subie community... Again, the only reasion that GenVibe is as small as it is, is because it's NEW in comparison... they came out in 03' where the Impreza has been around since the early 90's. I don't honestly believe that subaru is a niche company either, as you know you see all ages driving ALL the different cars... I know when i got my RS there was an OLD couple that was driving an RS as well, it was an auto, but, one day i saw them at a store and stopped and chatted with them for some time. There were just as geeked over the car as i was, they were VERY conservitave, and just loved the ride, handling and winter benifits of owning the car.... I WAS going to get a Forester until i test drove the Forester and the Impreza back-to-back, and the ride of the Impreza won HANDS DOWN over the forester... I never intended on getting an RS, but, once i drove it, it was all over.... Quote »It's got jersey plates. That's probably a good sign it's been abused. Dualy noted, but, this guy really seems to be on the up-n-up and this car as been a labor of love.. the shell only has 77k on it and the motor about 18k on it... It's also been totally re-sprayed, inside, outside, engine bay, and underbody.... So all the "bad" spots that my car shows have been addressed.... I know what you are saying though....
i'm willing to bet the farther north you go, the more subarus you will see, due to the awd.i'm definitely not a hater. i just don't care for them too much because most of them are just performance, which isn't my biggest concern. the new tribeca does look pretty sweet from the commercials though. it looks comfy and stylish, a thing most subies can't brag about.

LOL. however, if i had the wagon, it would be the ULTIMATE sleeper car!
wow, that is a truly beautiful car, i would love to have that, the vibe just doesnt have the performance to compare to the subie!awesome find and i hope that nothing goes wrong with it
