On the way!

Post by 02csnow »

Well I have ordered a oil catch resevoir and a tranny cooler. The tranny cooler is a tube style with fins. It is dual pass, with inner and outer coolers. They should be here by next weekend. I hoping that I am able to install them quickly. I also have some rolls of vinyl coming in. Red ultra metallic and gloss black. I have a few plans for them. I will definitely post some pics when I am all done.

I just got a universal one off of ebay. I dont plan on using the lines that come with. Gonna get some other lines from the auto parts store.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemI appreciate you letting me know about the lines. Now I know what I am looking at. I am just worried about fluids pouring on me.

It is to prevent oil from going into the intake manifold fom what I know. Overall your engine will last a little longer and posibly run better.A quote from a distributor"The oil catch tank mounts above your valve cover and ensures excess oil and dirt does not get inside your engine. This will ensure better mileage and better performance on your engine."

An oil catch can for the Vibe. Sounds like some serious marketing hype going on here. They're used on really serious 'race only' engines to keep oil off a track surface. With regard to the tranny cooler, I thought mounting the cooler itself was the tough part. For the lines just slide off the factory clamps/rubber hose and run rubber lines from the rad, to the cooler and back to the tranny.

BC has one and has capture lots of that nasty oil! :s euwThe tranny cooler wasnt a big deal with 2 people to mount...I for the life of me cannot get the mounts off the stock lines..they are freaking clamped on with the power of zeus!! serious, I had pliers and wrenches and 3 people try...I need a blow torch next i guess.

My oil catch can fills up once a year and I empty it every spring. Mine holds about 16oz. of oil & gunk.

In a years time several gallons of water will pass through the intake/engine in the form of condensation (from the tank and gas pump) and absolutely no harm is done. 16 oz. of oil, in the form of an ultra fine vapor (blow-by), is no problem for any engine to digest, especially over a years time.
