Okay, I know this topic seems to have been beaten to death, but I'd like to know how people have added subwoofers to their systems - with pics if possible. I don't want a huge honkin' speaker box in the back of my car. My wife wouldn't have it. I've been considering going around to local salvage yards and trying to find an '05+ that has been wrecked so that I can take the monsoon panel out of the back, speaker and all. If that was the case, I'd probably just grab the amp and head unit as well, and make a package deal out of it.I saw a post somewhere, I can't find it now, of someone who'd mounted amps to the underside of the hinged spare tire cover in the back, and had a hole cut in it that had a small subwoofer mounted in it. I don't know the size, but from the look of it, it must have been a free air 8" or 10". I should have bookmarked it for reference.I'm starting out with a base 2003 model with the M&T package. It doesn't sound bad by any means, but I know with a sub, and maybe new speakers it could sound a lot better. I don't know much about stereo systems in general, so this could be an adventure! Any suggestions?
It may have been my post Here is a link. " TARGET="_blank">My Audio If that is the post, I am using a 10" woofer and useing the well in the spare tire cover as an enclosure. The woofer requires less then .5ft3. I was in the same boat and wanted to have a stealth install that looks stock. If you have any questions feel free to shoot.Aron
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style
It wasn't your system, but it looked very similar. Maybe the other person got the idea from you. Your system looks great! Do you still have a spare tire? I need to sit down and read the entire post instead of just looking at pics, but I don't have time to right now.I really like the LCD display screen. Sweet!
for what you need i'd say like a bazzooka tube or other small powered sub. they take up minimal space while still providing thump...you won't be bumpin like somebody with 2 12s and a super crazy amp setup, but it will def add some low end to your sound.crutchfield has a few of them
That's actually what I was thinking about this morning. The problem is, with my stock HU, options are pretty limited unless I plan to gut it, and start with a different one.
Many powered subs come with "speaker" level inputs, simply plug your speaker output into it and go.... There should be a topic down the list or on the next page about this very topic, you should find and read...
free air sounds pretty weak just for your info, but if you really want to hide your sub you can go with an 8 and get a box made for under your driver seat, you could do a pioneer thin mount sub, those sound decent...wow that was a long run on sentence >_><_<
'04 lava GTSRI, Progress rear sway bar, Infinity reference backs, components in the front, Infinity Kappa 124.7w sub, Alphasonik 600rms@2ohms for the sub, alpine head unit, worst paint ever!
