A year ago I backed up my Oulook Express emails from a laptop computer to this desktop. So I have this backup folder on my desktop containing all these other folders with the .dbx extension. I need to look at, actually just delete 3 of the emails in the "Sent Items.dbx" folder. Do I need to export the complete folder to be able to delete just the 3 emails in question? I dont want to import the whole backup "Sent Items" into my current "Sent Items" on this desktop...dont want things mixed up.Thanks for your experience.
I can't remember exactly. I think you might be able to do it this way. create a new empty mail folder, call it something unique, such as snarfle. Then exit OE, find and delete the snarfle.dbx folder, and copy the old Sent folder in there, rename it to snarfle.dbx, and then run OE. It might take the old sent file to be the new snarfle folder, and let you process messages in there. Then exit OE, copy the snarfle folder to a backup name, like "OldSent" and next time you run OE, just delete the snarfle folder. Also be sure to kill any copies that might end up in trash foldersSucks you have to hunt and kill three specific old messages you sent. Hope you are not in any trouble. Also, if you are doing this to destroy evidence in a criminal or congressional investigation, you shouldn't, but if you do, I am not an accessory, I don't want any supoenas showing up
