Cracks in the dash

Post by jwalcik »

I searched, but I wasn't able to find anything on this. I've had two cracks start developing in my dash, below the bottom of the gauge pods: Has this happened to anyone else?

That just looks like the bottom of the gauge cluster trim to me, it's a piece separate of the rest of the dash. There are gaps to the left and to the right of the wheel where the gauge trim meets the rest of the dash. Is that what you're seeing?Any way you can get a closer, larger pic?

ColonelPanic is right on his statement. The trim around the cluster is two pieces. If you pop out the trim rings, you can get a better look at it.

I've had the car for over two years and I've never noticed it before. The one on the left looked to me like it might be a seam, but the one on the right takes a weird turn and made me think it was a crack.

I just checked mine, and they are right, it is normal. The rings that stick out are a separate piece, and it includes a little bit of flat area underneath. You can just pull on those rings and the piece will come out, you will see that it is supposed to be the way that yours is. If you do pull it out, be sure to feed the trip meter button thing back through the hole when you put the piece back in place
