Comment's about vibe.

Post by Chazb »

I understand why some people may dislike some vehicle's including the vibe(gasp) but what some people are posting at the site below just plain befuddlle's me.I think the people just wait to post something negative without even knowing anything about the product. Most of the post's praise the vibe. http://carpoint.msn.com/userreviews/rev ... l&lang=All

Yup...they just want to "trash" the car. Fine with me as long as they are being "reasonable" and respect why people would buy this car for whatever serves their purpose. You can tell how subjective they are. One post was even comparing it to the Mini which is on a totally different category. Now where the heck would you put a 8 foot ladder in a Mini. Well, as you can see most of the reviews are positive (for 60 plus reviews) so the trashers are the minority or the outliers which is so obvious with their scores. They probably just want to bring the average scores down by voting the lowest number out of 10 that is basically presuming the car is a total lemon (which is not). Even the WRX page (with 200 plus reviews) has some of these "outliers" who has nothing else better to do but to post and click without even thinking. Read the definitions for each category and you can see what they are rating. You can tell they are just monkeys. Some of them probably posted twice by using different IP addresses. To bring back the average score it deserves....submit your honest reviews.

*sigh* Yep...that's the CarPoint boards for ya.If you'd like to check out some more well-written reviews from real honest people, try http://www.epinions.com. You have to register for a (free) account to write reviews, which I think helps to deter the one-timers who want to just lower the average rating. The Vibe has 10 reviews at Epinions (mine being one of them) and all but one person recommends the car. I noticed the Matrix got similarly high marks, but no one is ripping on either car in there.

Not to put down the validity of epinions, but wouldn't a very large percentage of the reviews be from people who liked it enough to test drive it and buy it? I would think that might throw off the numbers a lot, but the site should still be good for seeing which features of a vehicle are good or bad.

Although I have seen a number of auto reviews there from folks who have merely road-tested or rented vehicles, I believe what you're saying is probably the norm at that site. At least with cars.Still, this leads me to consider the fact that I'm not really sure how much I care about the opinion of someone who has never driven a vehicle I want a review of. When reading a review I'm primarily interested in just what you mentioned -- which features of the vehicle are good or bad. Information you could only reliably glean from someone who has first-hand experience -- preferably ongoing -- with a product. Beyond that aspect, everything else -- aesthetics, practical usefulness, etc. -- I can decide for myself just by looking.
