DeltaSonic & In-Between Washings

Post by kiltman »

Is is OK/safe for my Vibe to go through the DeltaSonic carwash? What do you all do between washings? Anyone "dust" the outside of their cars? Thanks in advance for you advice.

Another NY member! Welcome to Genvibe! If DeltaSonic is a touchless (water only, no brushes) wash, then yes, it's fine. As far as dusting, I use a California Car Duster for the pollen that constantly accumulates all spring and summer around here. I wouldn't use it if the car has dirt or mud on it, you'll end up dragging the dirt across the paint and scratching it. Advance Auto and Pep Boys sell the duster if you want to try it. http://www.partsamerica.com/Pr...3298W

Cali Car Duster and a bottle of Quick Detailer from any of the companies and some soft towels... When i lived in N.Ton i was lucky enough to park in a garage and would wash my car about every other week... As mentioned, if you have mud on the car you will pick it up and carry it along and scratch... Do you park in a garage? If so good for you... the worst is parking under a tree that "mists" sap...

Personally, I don't like car washes. The ones that use the spinning brushes, the brushes collect dirt from the thousands of dirty cars ahead of you, thus acting like fine sand paper. The touch-less, high pressure washes can actually force surface dirt into today's softer paint finishes. Give me a bucket with warm water and car wash specific soap and a soft clean car wash mit or brush any day.

Touchless car washes are not bad but will not remove as well as a hand wash. Car washes with brushes and scrubbers, stay away, even if its minus ten, stay the heck away. Think about it, if when you went to wash your car you tied your mitt to a rope and just swung it around like Indiana Jones' whip and kept nailing the side of your car, is that gonna clean it real good, probably not. But if you like using them, then a cheaper alternative in the long run would be to buy a bunch of hedges and put them along your driveway really close hanging over. Spray them with wash and soap and drive back and forth repeatedly. Handwashing with the proper equipment will always be the best solution.

haha, I clearly need to find a self-wash garage and load up on quarters then as I have no outside water hook-up at this apartment. I must confess, I did take it through the "touchless" this one time.

When you go to the "spray away" , go later at night, that way nobody gets in your way and you have time to dry it properly.... What part of Buffalo do you live? Like i said, i lived in N. Ton...

Let's see Buffalo is about hmm, gotta be close to 7 hours away I figure. Takes me 3-4 to get to Albany (stupid NY State Troopers on the Taconic make you go the speed limit, how dumb is that )So probably another 3 from there I would imagine.

Damn! How fast do you drive. Albany is about 4.5-5 hours from Buffalo. I actually don't mind driving the 90.I'm actually driving to NYC beginning this Sunday the 12th and I'll be there on Saturday and Sunday the 18th and 19th . I'm on road crew for the Empire State AIDS Ride. I'm not driving the Vibe though.

So i cut a few off the drive from Buff to albany...

I hate 87, When leaving from CT I head up to Rte. 84 and then jump off on the Taconic, much more pleasant ride and great scenery! Then I cut over to 90. Amsterdam! My fiences cousin has a lake house up there we go to on Sacandaga. We drive right through Amsterdam and pickup some booze and food from the big plaza off Rte 30 I believe it is. The lakehouse itself is in North Broadalbin right on the lake to.
