So, do the Energy Suspension motor mount inserts work on an automatic Vibe? If you believe what you read on every Vibe/Corolla/Matrix forum, then no. Well, I didn't really believe this to be the case... I mean, had someone actually tried or were they just repeating the same untested info. For the money, I was going to give them a shot and find out for myself once and for all...Well, as we all know, the front one fits. Install took about ten minutes and I didn't even have to lift the car off the ground. For the rear mount, I decided to wait until I could get the car on a lift, but the inserts "looked" like they should fit. Finally, we got the car on a lift. The total install took maybe fifteen minutes. The hardest part was getting one bolt to line back up... we ended up using a tranny jack to bring the engine/tranny up a hair. I see no reason why it can't be done with jack stands and a floor jack. Now for the part every automatic owner wants to know....YES, THEY FIT BOTH FRONT AND REAR!!As with anything meant to stiffen any part of a car up, there is some added noise and vibration. At first they're VERY noticeable. Vibration is insane... but within a few days it's not as bad. After about two months I have to say I'm not bothered by them anymore at all. And it's not just because I'm used to them... once they "found their home" the vibrations lessened. Engine noise did not really decrease though... cruising on the highway there is definitely more noise transferred into the cabin than before. But for the real test... I drove my sister to our cousin's wedding... if she didn't comment on the noise or vibration, they can't be that bad

I agree with you,But,they are not listed on the ES website as fitting the Auto. So,must people shy away from them. The one problem I see is the manual bushings would be much stiffer than the automatic bushings. In my opinion, much too stiff than needed. If you had a lot more horsepower than I bet you have, they maybe fine.I know I may need them as the s/c does tweak the motor when you mash the gas.But I'm not willing to give up that comfort yet for Vibration and added noise.Glad to see someone has gone beyond and tried them, that at least gives us an option when the time comes to replace them.

Yes, but the email I got from ES said, "we didn't try them on an automatic." They never said they didn't fit... thats why they're not listed on their website.Throttle response on the highway is a major benefit of the mounts... but those who don't like feeling their car should stay away from them. BTW, the rear mount in my car had two part numbers on it, one was the auto number and the other was the manual part number. So, they are actually the same mount. At least they are in '05... I chose to do the mounts to get rid of wheel hop in the rain... they have. I also saw no point to waiting until I had more horsepower to do the mount, I'd rather plan ahead so they're already in there. When we did the rear mount my stock one already had a rip in it and I was only at 20k. I can imagine what some of the other cars look like...

The front mount, yes... that one is easy. The rear is a different story... I doubt you will be able to even reach the bolts holding the mount without lifting the car. And it's a PITA to line it back up...I started with just the front mount... while it seemed to do exactly what I wanted it to, the vibrations really didn't calm down until after I installed the rear inserts.

I just brought my car into Meineke to have it done. Firstly he didn't know what a torque mount was and didn't understand the concept of the inserts. After showing him and explaining it he finally got it but then said it would take about 2 hours and be $180.........I said hell no. Anybody wanna come do it for me? I'll try calling a car place that heard of torque mounts.
Well, I like it. Torque steer is now a minimum. Everything just seems more rigid. Shifts are no longer lurchy or harsh.....at least not as much. But it rattles and that sucks. It only rattles, though under about 900 RPM. So it'll rattle pretty bad for me right now since after my vibe is warmed up she idles at about 800-750RPM. At that point the dash and steering wheel shakes, and I can hear something hitting or vibrating underneath......kinda embarassing. So I think I'm just going to tighten up the throttle body cable a bit more so it idles just a lil' bit higher.
The second day I had the rear mount in the exhaust was hitting the floor... it went away though. As for the vibration, give it a little time to break in too, there is some play so the inserts will find their "home," then the vibes should lessen. Occasionally I notice more vibration than usual, but its pretty tolerable. Either they really do "break in," or I'm really used to it. Only one person has commented on any vibration so far.Keep us posted on your results...

What's the normal idle RPM? I may increase it a little bit. I just have to adjust those lock nuts at the end of the throttle cable, correct? At 900-950 RPM you can barely feel the vibration.......going a little lower than that and it is VERY noticable.
Just an update for everyone. Before putting on the SC my car was vibrating BAD! The whole door and dash would shake like crazy half of the time at idle. After cleaning the IACV idle you can barely notice or feel a vibration. Occasionally you can tell a bit more but it is VERY tolerable. So get to it and do it.
so is there an update with the motor mounts on an automatic? are the vibrations really bad?Do you see any negative side effect with putting it in an automatic?
At first the vibrations were really bad. At idle when she was warm everything would shake a lot. A few weeks after that I installed the supercharger and cleaned my throttle body and IACV and now you can barely feel any vibration. So your results may vary, but all my issues lied with the dirty throttle body.
The vibrations aren't that bad. I'm happy I did them. They definitely find their home and reduce the vibration over time. Knowing what I know, I would do them again.

Hey portside, or anyone else who would know... I'm. Planning to install these Monday but I'm just wondering which are for the front and rear? I have four inserts. Two exactly the same and two others are different. Not sure what goes where. Unless once I get to it I will be able to tell how they fit.
It'll be obvious. The identical pairs go in each mount. You will want the car on jack stands and a floor jack to put light pressure on the transmission or you won't get the rear mount back in (use a block of wood). But it's not a hard job.
