I noticed when I was changing my oil a few days ago that my drivers side foglight has moisture behind it. Quite a bit of moisture, enough to pretty much fog over the entire lense/cover.I was curious if that was under warranty or not? I looked over it and I could not find a crack in it. I can understand if it was cracked, then it wouldn't be under warranty, but is moisture getting behind the foglight my fault? Wasn't sure if this is something I need to take care of myself or if the dealership should deal with it.

Are you saying the Vibe of the Month has this kind of problem with it? I want my vote back!seriously though, you can always ask the dealer if they will cover it. Everybody is different, and thats a good thing. If it were me, I'd probably do it myself, because I could do it while doing something else, and wouldn't have to set aside a block of time to get the thing in to the dealer, argue to get them to do it, wait around for it to be done, etc. I would guess that the fix would be to maybe take the thing out, shake out the water, blast a hairdryer in there for five or ten minutes to dry it out and put it back. You might want to also check to see if the seal around the bulb conector is ok. If there is a defect in the thing somewhere, then get the dealer to fix it under warranty. The nearest dealer to me is about 16 miles away, so I bet I could pull the foglight fixture, dry it out and put it back in less time than to do the round trip drive to the dealer. and I could do when convenient, not have to take time off work.
True you can ask if they will cover it... most service guys are good like that, but if not, ask if they have an "AWA" program. AWA is an After Warranty Adjustment. This usually involves some paperwork but if you haven't done anything big on the warranty coverage, they'll cover something like the fog light unit. it runs +/- $90.oo CAD so its not too much of an expence for the dealership to eat
You can certainly ask and if you have a good rep with your dealer and bring the car back for other services you pay for, the dealer just may cover it. However I got a feeling most will say we do not cover damage due to rocks. Still it is worth asking about and they may cover it once for you!
