i was wondering back when i got my vibe why not swap the engine out with one that gets just as high rpms and is in a V8 configuration while not being that much larger. then i tried to figure out who else sells a 3.6L V8. o wait i remember http://fast-autos.net/vehicles...der/ theres nothing wrong with that kind of an engine swap is there?
I'm sure it's possible. I suppose the question might be is it practical? If you do it, let us know and take plenty of pics! I'm sure it'll be quite the project!Quote, originally posted by manicdan »i was wondering back when i got my vibe why not swap the engine out with one that gets just as high rpms and is in a V8 configuration while not being that much larger. then i tried to figure out who else sells a 3.6L V8. o wait i remember http://fast-autos.net/vehicles...der/ theres nothing wrong with that kind of an engine swap is there?
Would you agree to debris acceptance? 2003 Vibe GTMods installed GM Top and Mid-Gate Spoilers, Cosmo CAI, TWM Short Shifter with Desert Eagle weighted shift knob, TWM Bronzoil Shifter Cable Bushings, Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust, Unichip, Injen Billet Aluminum Engine/Sparkplug covers and oil cap, Optima RedTop Battery, Lineage Ground Wire KitAwaiting install: Energy Suspension Motor Mounts, DC Sports Header
i was thinking morally, if i were to put that into a $20k car, would i have every rich person's hitmen chasing me down. logically it probably dosnt mount in any of the normal spots, the transmission is probably alot bigger or i need a very speical one, and i doubt i could even buy that engine. it was more along the lines of "Toyota please be nice and make the 2zz a V8 for all us nice boys and girls"
The only V8 I can think of that is near that displacement is the 3.4L V-8 from the most recent Taurus SHO. The tranny I think would be the biggest holdup or getting the power to the ground. Should you choose to do this, you may be looking at a RWD swap. If you get that far, why not just spend the money on something else and go faster for cheaper?
That might be easier than a V8. You'd have to add a roll cage if those are the times you can run though.Quote, originally posted by Sublimewind »You would be MUCH better off doing a DUAL motor set-up...!!!!!! this is all just a joke guys, its not ment to be in any way logical just funny that the closest thing to 2 of our motors is what ferrari uses. if we wanted to see the fastest vibe in the world it would be to take out everything on the inside and set up a V10-12 turbo motor in the back seats and throw some huge radials on the back tires. it would become one of the craziest MR cars out there and the front could easily still be big enough for all your groceries. and if u wanna down size just a bit i bet we could pack it all in the trunk and still have our rear seats. hmm, a MR that can hold 5 people, and their luggage, and still do 8s... i wonder if it would be something Monster Garage would like to try out....
well, if it was a V8, it wouldn't be a 2zz. anyway, I missed my opportunity to buy a Pontiac Vibe with a V8 in ithttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=11020

there are so many different things u can do but how much it cost should only be for the horsepower itself, how u install it can be free with a good torch and welder. me and my friends have a dream of recreating the bike from "Akira" that would have 2 motors, one going to each wheel. hydraulics that adjust the length for if u have a passenger and everything else would be right from the movie. in the end it would be super awsome and under 20 grand. (buy 2 used bikes identical for 10k each) if we just had the tools and know how to make all the parts.
