Beating Silly Speeding Tickets

Post by ProtonXX »

I had a pretty decent amount of time in the court room. But theres one thing that disturbs me. I see more and more troopers going on stand to claim they visually estimated someones speed.Example.I clock the defendant going 72 mph and visually estimated him going 70.The the judge finds the person guilty & says the cop clocked with a gun AND visually estimated u going so & so speed. How to beat it?Just ask the cop how many feet you traveled while he saw you. Then ask how long did he see you travel that distance. This gives you a feet per second where translated into MPH will come up to some goofy number. This happened to me & Im in the process of appealing

Hmmm, I might have to try this out. I have gotten countless speeding tickets in the last couple years. I have two more coming up!I've never noticed them saying that before but now that you brought it up it is coming back to me now. I'll let you know if it works. Although I am going into law enforcement myself and I'll be graduating from the police academy next summer it seems to me like an officer wouldn't even bother trying to give an estimated distance and time....like you said, the number would come out goofy so why bother?

I got one due in 2 weeks. Got it on the 4th of July late at night driving home from Plymouth (1 hour away).Traffic was sorta light, no moon so it was pitch black on the county hwy and I'm in my black vue. Just as I enter the last little town before Appleton, I get pulled over. I didn't think I was going that fast in town, maybe 5mph over. Turns out to be a female county sherrif deputy. She says She clocked me doing 72mph (front and rear mounted radar) a few miles back, "a little bit before the big bend in the road". That bend was about 8 miles away (and about 10minutes)from where I got pulled over. I told her again I didn't think that I was going THAT fast, maybe a little over 60mph. She asked where I was coming from and going to, how my record was. I told her it should be pretty good (trying to remember what county I'm in and where I've gotten several warnings ). She say's she'll check and be right back. 15 minutes later she comes back and says that my record is very good, then hands me the ticket. I can't tell you the words that were going through my head. I asked her if she was sure that it was me that she tagged since it took her so long to chase me down. For all she knew, I could have just pulled onto the road. I guess she took offense to that and told me she was "doing me a favor" by lowered the fine and points. I decided not to argue with her cause my daughter had to go to the bathroom and we were only 15 min. from home.Think I should fight it? It would mean having to take a day off from work and driving to the courthouse 40minutes away. The fine is only $120 or so an it's just a few points. And I've NEVER had any luck in the court room. However, if she was able to capture it all on video then I wouldn't mind paying it. But if there was just a couple minutes that she lost sight of me, I think I could win the case.

I fight all tickets just because its my right . If the cop dont show up you get off for free. If you lose well your fine is the same in most cases.Im bringing ths up because I got a messed up ticket in Arizona on US-93. I was going south about 69MPH when I get caught in a 2 mile speed trap where the speed limit dropped to 45mph.Anyway fast forward to court...the cop used of all things 2 posts & a stop watch. I was no way prepared to face that(the ticket didn't say stopwatch or have any boxes check for laser/radar). But I did fight like hell, in the end I asked what was my location the cop changed his story right in the middle of trial from there was no speed limit signs after his checkpoint to there was 1 after his checkpoint.Of course I love & file for an appeal & get the transcripts back. The cop said I went 550 feet in 7.3 seconds. 69mph = 101 feet per second..figure the rest out http://www.calculateme.com/Spe...d.htm

All I really care about is not getting the points... I will pay the fine if I am truely guilty.

I got a couple ways to beat "silly" speeding tickets1 don't go more than 9 MPH over most cops won't even bother you2 go with the flow of traffic3 don't get caught speeding key word being: caught4 get a valentine V1 Radar detector(it tells you how many and general direction.5 have a military ID and a dress uniform in the back drivers side window...and give the Iraq return story

I agree with a few there.1 don't go more than 9 MPH over most cops won't even bother you2 go with the flow of traffic3 don't get caught speeding key word being: caught4 get a valentine V1 Radar detector(it tells you how many and general direction.5 have a military ID and a dress uniform in the back drivers side window...and give the Iraq return story1) Cops typically don't waste there time with people within that range. I do 45-48 on Rte. 1 Post Road which is 40, cops never have once pulled me for that.2) Flow of traffic works very well3) Have a cop spotter buddy, let someone else be the lead, and don't be in the front or end of a pack of speeders, stay in the middle.4) Valentine Ones are insane! They are also very high priced, but you get what you pay for.5) Don't have any of those. And I'll add a 6th.6) Have a friend who is a US Marshall at the courthouse so you never have to go to court or do jury duty Works for me!I've also toned my driving down a lot since the accident, Be defensive, it makes a difference.

If I would have been in the vibe, I know I would have gotten out of it with a warning. Rescue Squad member plates are better than a get out of jail free card! They work great for city and county cops. State troopers are mostly all a-hats. Most all cops consider it a 'professional courtesy'. Last spring I was driving back to Plymouth and had a clear and open slice of road so I turned the corner and gunned it up to 100mph. I let a big hill slow me down and just as I crested the top a county cop was coming over. I saw him turn around after me so I just pulled over. He just warned me about some snow drifting across the road up ahead and complemented me on my new snow tires. "Those look a lot better then most of what I've seen!" He also told me that the road isn't the proper place to be doing performance test runs and let me on my way with a written warning.

I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code

you can mess up the formula by dividing or multiplying in the wrong order. I believe thats why I got the inflated speed citation
