Fuel Gauge problem

Post by 04shadowvibe »

Well we have had out first Vibe problem at about 4K miles. The fuel gauge does not go to full or read correctly. Took it to the dealer today and they had a new sending unit on order and it was ready to install. When they were checking it out they found out the gauge was not reading correctly and that was the problem. So now they have a new IP cluster on order and we just gotta take it back in whenever the part comes in. Vibe owner since 2004 and this is our 2nd Vibe and our first problem. Sofar its been a very reliable car model for us.

I think that's a new problem here at genvibe, don't remember anyone posting about that one before. Hopefully they will get the new cluster set to the right odometer reading. Too bad they didn't really check it out correctly when they first looked at it, instead of assuming, then ordering the wrong part, making you come in twice for the same problem. I guess as long as they get it fixed right, that's all that really matters

You should request your old parts placed in the box and put in the car. Then, send the old instrument cluster to one of these gauge guys to use as a demo/mockup. It'll allow them to take time to tinker, since you won't be needing it. Also, I guess you'd want them to pay shipping/handling so there's no cost to you.

Im sure GM will not let the old part go out of the dealer since it is a warranty repair.

Hmm...its worth a try...I thought that any repair, billed or not that would be replaced and carry a warranty, and thus you could require the part as proof of replacement.Technically, its a component of a vehicle you purchased, and therefore is yours, but I see where you are thinking here
