Driver headlight cover melted

Post by Digger »

My blinker bulb blew and melted the inner blinker clear cover. It got little bubbles in it also. Stopped at the dealer and showed them. All they asked was if the melted spot was there before the bulb blew. I told him it was not. He said by the looks of the car and how clean it is he said I believe you. They are ordering me a new light assembly. Not thinking of mu short ram being there when I stopped. He asked me how I like my intake and if it works well with the car? I told him all about it and he was glad to know the info. No mention of what it would do to the warranty. All seemed OK as far as I could tell.

I don't think they can void warranties for much longer if they sell them too.

GM has full control over the intakes they sell. They are engineered by GM, and hence GM can guarantee they are safe for the engine (and, if installed by a GM certified" service technician, they can further guarantee the installation was not fouled}. That is why GM accessories do not void a NVW (new vehicle warranty).Injen for example, on the other hand, is an outside company engineering products for a GM engine. GM can't assure anything about products they don't make, so to use/install non-GM parts DOES risk voiding your warranty (or voiding warranties on specific parts.)

no intake will void the warranty on the headlights, unless the dealer can prove the intake broke the headlights

Wow, cool story, most time it goes more like "The dealer screwed me"

I can't say they have ever treated me with nothing except respect. I also asked them about my stock tires which need replaced and they gave me a straight answer. " The tires they came with suck."anyone have a good tire I can get without breaking the bank?

That's wierd that it melted your headlight cover. So the light actually exploded or just went out?

I think the bulb broke when the running light was onthen flashed when the blinker side lit up. not sure since I did not want to take it out and look at till the dealer did. I did order a set of LED bulbs for it.They will run cooler than the other. Even if the bulb stays on all the time it should not melt the cover.

I doubt an aftermarket intake would void a warranty on your car "but" it would restrict coverage on the engine or areas that it could directly effect.awesome your getting a new headlight assy.

They put the new light assembly in and cleaned the car all up with a fresh coat of wax. All I did was say thank you. Makes me want to buy my next car there. Wife needs a new set of wheels.
