sub advice wanted

Post by kmvibe »

I'm changing my subwoofer setup from 2 10's to one high-performance 12". My choices are Diamond Audio d3 or d6 or Alpine type r. I'm going to be running 500 watts RMS. I perfer to have it in a ported box. What's your suggestions?Kenny

Go with a Kicker hahaha. Sorry I would say the Alpine R subs are mono put all that power into one. Just my opinion.

Both are great subs, it's really up to you.. You are pushing the lower limit if of the power handling of the subs with only 500w though...

Thanks for your replies. I actually considered Kicker and MTX. I like the sound of the Alpine and Diamond Audio. The subs are rated as:Alpine Type R 12 dual 4 ohm (500 rms)Diamond Audio D3 12" dual 4 ohm (400 rms)Diamond Audio D6 12" dual 4 ohm (600 rms)I should be OK pushing any one of these subs with a Polk Audio C500.1 monoblock rated 500 watts rms at 2 ohms. Do you agree?Kenny

I have Alpine Type R's throughout my car. But I have 2 - 10", as well all 4 door speakers in the bincy Type R's, and tweeters. Can't complain - I won 1st place in competition (withen my class ofcourse).

I think I might have some in the garage. I actually had it taken out for about a month (Just the sub Box setup) because I kept finding it was in the way - couldn't haul too much with the hatch full. I don't know if I have pictures of all the door speaker set-ups. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21382 It all seem's old to me now. I put it in just tonight for one last thrill of the BOOM BOOM before I trade off the car and sell everything with it!
