Dead Battery/Dead CD Player

Post by Dinie5 »

My boyfriend was working in the garage Sunday listening to cd's in my 03 Vibe w/ 6 CD player and when I went to go to the store, my car wouldn't start. He jump started it and now the cd player won't work at all and I can't even get the cd's out! The radio works fine. I've unhooked the battery and reinstalled. Could it be a fuse or is the player just totally fried and I'm screwed?

My guess is the CD player is stuck or stuck in a mode the radio cannot see. I have never heard of this before. Heard of tape players doing similar but that was many years ago. I would personally try this... Take a cotton swab, gently insert it into the CD players slot and try and rotate the CD. I feel doing this will complete the mode it was in and possibly get it to eject. BE VERY CAREFUL though! Other then that, it would be pull the radio and take it apart. Good luck!

I don't have my Vibe yet, so it is hard for me to say for sure. On many CD units they have a "reset" button somewhere, usually you have to use a paper clip to get to it through a small hole. Look it over and see if you find a tiny hole, about the size of a paper clip and if you do, carefully thread a PC through the hole with the car on, if it is a reset you'll know right away, if not, you'll burn the car to the ground (just kiddin)
