Clank. Clank. Oh no...

Post by savedbyzero »

I thought I lost a strut today. I had noticed it after leaving my vibe to the trustworthy valets(insert sarcasm). Everytime I hit a small bump...rattle,rattle, clank! I was like, OH ****!!!! I took the wheel/tire off and had a buddy listen at the top of the strut inside the engine compartment. I look under the rubber cap in the center of the strut bracket and BINGO! The nut had almost worked it's way completely off!! Tightened it down and fixed the nasty sound! SSSHHHHEEWWWWWW!!!!!

That can't be good. Wonder what caused that to happen?

I'm pretty sure that the eibach spring hadn't seated all the way when I had it compressed and put onto the strut. When the valet parked, he probably hit a speed bump in the garage with more speed than necessary, causing it to seat in the proper postion alowing the end of the strut to move freely. just speculation, though...

Ahh, that would probably do it. Good thing you noticed it when you did. Could have made things a little interesting.
