Post by jsimon63 »

I am looking for Stafford Turbo Fab to see if they have anything for the Vibe/Matrix. Perhaps some one in Vibe land has dealt with them?! Any and all info would be great!!

I thought Stafford went out of business a while ago. I thought they screwed a bunch of people out of money and turbo kits. That seems to be a common thing nowdays with Stafford, ATS & Hass. Your best bet is http://www.turbokits.com

I think the last posted here on genvibe about them was in November 06, when Faultline reported about needing a new engine, in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=25852 he said Quote, originally posted by Faultline »I contacted Stafford, and he informed me that he was busy getting some cars ready for SEMA, but that he could get to me afterwards. We talked about perhaps getting forged rods and pistons , and that would run be around $1200 in parts. He also said that he had some 2zz rods around he would just give me, and that they were stronger than the 1zz ones. Then I could have some custome pistons made to compensate the stroke difference of the 2zz rods, and that would cost me around $500 bucks for the piston set. It would take about 6 weeks to make the custom pistons. Hmmm ...very intriging idea..After thinking about it a week, I decided not to go with either plan. that's not what I would consider going out of business and screwing people out of money, but maybe you read about that stuff somewhere else. Got any links?

Stafford didn't go out of business, he made some poor business decisions and had to declare bankruptcy to protect his home and buisiness. He's still making turbo kits. Heard his name mentioned on some car show and in a tuner mag. It's an awesome kit and pretty cheap. Uses a t3/t4 super 60 turbo I think. Nice clean install. My feelings are that he is just too buisy to do anything that isn't local.Hass has better results with their kit, though. More power and better customer service.

Thats one hell of a deal. Hard to tell the actual quality of the parts from just pictures though. Someone should def check this out though. Damn for that price I'd almost buy one for a forum member to test out if its not a one off.

Turbonetics part #'s (T3/T4) At least that is what they call em. But e-bay auction could be using it as a generic term.

Hey! I have not been around for a while I have just been so busy.I just ran into Mike Stafford of Stafford Fabrications, because he is local to me. I had not seen him in a while, and I asked him how it was going. He told me he has a new shop, which was next to a truck parts store where I was shopping. He was back to making kits, but right now, it was supercharger kits for the 2zz motor in the Lotus Elise. I have always encouraged people to go local in their forced induction endeavers. The accountability is there, and usually it seems to go better. You have a face , and a place. If those ebay kits are the real deal, then they are a deal because usually the same kit costs about 3k. You need to think of your FI as your project. Even if you are mechanicly challenged, take the time to learn about what is going on in FI. If you expect that installing a kit will be like a factory set up , you are expecting too much. It is more like owning an old VW bug where you are frequently opening the hood , checking things out, and tightening up loose things. Your car will become a high maintenance needy girlfriend Good luck, but to answer about Stafford, he is not making kits for our car right now , unless you can drive to his desert shop out here in California.
